WS Radio: Jacob Sullum and Marc Emery
Listen live (QuickTime), Mondays, 4 - 6 p.m. EST
"Political Animals"--the flagship radio show of Western Standard radio--is a weekly political talk show on 88.1 WBGUFM hosted by Jay Lafayette, Peter Jaworski, and Terrence Watson.
Today, our phone-in guest will be Jacob Sullum, senior editor of Reason Magazine, syndicated columnist,
and author of "Saying Yes: In Defense of Drug Use," as well as "For Your Own Good: The Anti-Smoking Crusade and the Tyranny of Public Health." We'll ask Jacob about our own "Prince of Pot," and about public perceptions of drug use and whether or not those perceptions align with reality. If we can keep him on the phone long enough, we'll also ask him about smoking and the nanny statists who would stomp it out.
Also on the ticket is Marc Emery. His plea bargain with the U.S. government has hit a snag--the Canadian legal system is telling him that they can't keep him in a Canadian prison for five years (as Emery requested) since that penalty is too harsh according to Canadian standards. Provided Marc doesn't have legal issues to take care of, he'll come on in the second hour to give us an update on his case.
Gerry Nicholls, one of the best political pundits in Canada, will, as always, join us at the top of the first hour to talk about Canadian politics.
Political Animals is on every Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, broadcast out of 88.1 FM in the Bowling Green, Ohio area, and on www.wbgufm.com worldwide.
