CBC reporter attacks CTF for owning a car
Chris Rand at the CBC wanted to take a shot at the Canadian Taxpayer Federation. He really did, you can sense a certain desperation to find something to take them to task with. The CTF was submitting a petition calling for an end to pensions for convicted criminals. Mr. Rand did not want to talk about the issue or take a stand on it. He wanted to talk about Derek Fildebrandt’s car.
Mr. Fildebrandt is the Research Director for the CTF and he owns a 1997 BMW. This car, according to the update in Mr. Rand’s post, was salvaged for $500 and has 250 000 km on it. For Mr Rand this represents “a certain cachet of new wealth and privilege in Canada.”
At first I thought that Mr. Rand should send an apology to Mr. Fildebrandt but then I realized that this was the highest compliment. If the best that the opponents of the CTF can do is complain about a 13 year old BMW, doesn’t that say something good about the CTF?

Shouldn't this be the other way around - the CTF criticizing the CBC for wasteful spending?
Abolish the CBC NOW! It serves no purpose anymore.

You have to wonder, the bottom of what barrel Canada scraped in the 1960s to find this utterly deplorable elite that has led it for the last 40 years.

And perhaps the CBC should disclose the number of drivers and chauffeurs they have on staff.
A list of all the vehicles current staff own would be helpful.

Non-criminal, seniour citizens begin to lose their Old Age Pension after annual incomes greater than about $63,000. They lose it completely after reaching an income of around $95,000. And this after having paid into it for years and years, perhaps for 50 years. Some recent immigrants collect the OAS without having contributed a dime. WTF!

Whenever I think of what to do with the CBC, I think of that scene in "Platoon" with the soldiers leaving the burning village in the background. The CBC must be destroyed immediately. It will be like the storming of the Bastille, or seizing the Winter Palace in the Russian Revolution in November 1917. No trace of it is to remain: put its media library into deep storage somewhere, dismantle the buildings to the ground, and burn the rubble.
In place of each former CBC site, erect a Holocaust memorial (for they forgot it happened) and a War Memorial to honor those who fought for freedom. This will make up for the fraudulent "Valor and the Horror" which insulted each group.

"Can you imagine what the Canadian Taxpayers Federation would say if an opposition party or non-governmental organization used a BMW in their photo op?"
If the NGO is not government funded, I doubt they would even care.
