Unhyphenated Canadian

Olympic Athlete Pierre Lueders

"My parents came to Canada and they are proud Canadians, and I am a proud Canadian and I represent Canada and I am going to do well for Canada and I really couldn't care less about the other countries," Lueders said. "Just because I have relatives and friends [in Germany], and that's all fun and wonderful...and it just so happens that my parents wanted to come to a better country."

Cheers to Mr Lueders, and the best of luck in the Games.

Even I, a pro-independence Albertan, has to admire that kind of unapologetic patriotism. Lueders has got some cajones, which is rare from a 'nice' Canadian. Well done!

Yes but he is white. Contrary to the patronizing attempts by the "Eastablishment", race matters in Canada. Whites receive preferential treatment, while driving non-whites down. Even then, white Anglo-Saxon protestants are better off than Eastern and Southern Europeans, and especially Jews. Moreover, if you're a westerner, don't even think about being treated as equal to an Ontarian - it is pointless to even discuss the matter with those aliens. Someday someone will write an accurate history of Canada, and not this "politically correct" national unity garbage currently being taught.

ZP: "Whites receive preferential treatment, while driving non-whites down."

An awful lot of taxpaying Canadians and their sons and daughters about to enter the workforce would take issue with this statement. It is glaringly obvious that the exact opposite is true for immigration, the hiring practices of the civil service and the racial quotas for the RCMP and other services.
Affirmative action doesn't give Canada the best people for the job.
Too many people of colour in this country play the race card hoping for handouts.
Victims my ass.

In our never ending quest to apologize for every slight and misdeed that was commited in the last 300 years we are now firmly entrenched at the bottom of the ladder. Affirmative action and minority hiring quotas are a prime example. I have a friend that lost a potential job as a fireman. He was the wrong color. He was white. Females and handicaped now take priority in many fields of employment and education.

Social engineering at its finest.

These affirmative action programs were put in place by leftist Liberal and NDP governments(which received many white male votes). Meanwhile, so-called conservatives like the old Progressive Conservatives did nothing to end these programs. The old Reform Party was the only party where members ever spoke out against these policies. The white male population has only itself to blame. How many continue to vote Liberal or NDP? How many Canadian men have views that lean to the right but vote NDP because their union tells them too? How many Canadian men shut their mouths while some feminazi at a party rambles on about how women have been victimized and are now entitled to special treatment? Wake up Canadian men! The Liberals and NDP don't speak for you. They are led by wimpy metrosexual men who win votes by budget busting government programs for women(while feminist organizations and the leftist mainstream media in turn wrongly condemn the right-leaning parties as anti-woman). They obtain more votes by telling francophones and non-whites that they are victimized by society and that only the Liberals and NDP will give them the funds to survive. It is sad enough that the francophones of Quebec, many minority members , and a significant part of the female population have bought into this agenda. What doesn't make any sense is why any normal white guy would vote for these parties. The NDP is hopelessly socialist. The Liberals are destroying the society by political correctness, affirmative action, playing the races and genders off against each other(Caledonia is partly a reaction to the Liberal's stirring of the pot), and their continued push for big government programs(National daycare, gun registry, unrestricted abortion funding). There is no reason for most guys to continue supporting these parties. Yet, we do! What happened? Did 15 years of Trudeau effectively neuter this country? Maybe that is why hockey is so popular here? The hockey rink is the one remaining place where Canadian men don't act like eunuchs.

Publius neatly employs the "person who" fallacy and triumphs with the anecdotal. I knew an immigrant who...

Some of you folks should be referred to the Jack Layton Institute for behaviour modification . We`ll strap you into a chair to get your mind right , featuring Libby Davies as guest lecturer, with Olivia and the video professor monitoring . But we can all raise our glasses and doff our ushankas tomorrow when we celebrate - Family Day . O joy .

I`d say sitting on ones` ass watching hockey is not the most manly thing . I , for myself can`t take the constant stream of prima dona cliches ,commercials and background filler music . Maybe back in the old days when we all used to play hockey 8 hours a day , there was something manly to it . Now you can`t tear them away from their computer games and ' friends ' .

True daveh. I also enjoyed it more when they played for the love of the sport instead of the multi-million dollar pay cheques. I enjoy junior A more now and can still afford to go to a game.
