Sarah Palin will resign as governor of Alaska

Sarah-palin-1

Former Republican vice-presidential candidate and governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, announced this afternoon that she will resign as governor effective July 25.

"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin wrote in a release on her website.

"It is my duty to always protect our great state. With that in mind, my family and I determined that it is best to make a difference this summer, and I am willing to change things, so that this administration, with its positive agenda, its accomplishments, and its successful road to an incredible future, can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success."

Sarah Palin, who was voted the "most controversial celebrity" of 2008, will be replaced as governor by the current lieutenant governor Sean Parnell on Saturday, July 25th.

Some are speculating that this move will give her more time to focus on running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

Politico reports:

By not running for re-election, Palin liberates herself from the political constraints that come with running for president while still in elected office.

Leaving office at the end of the month, the former vice presidential hopeful will be able to travel the country more freely without facing the sort of repeated ethics inquiries she’s been fending off since returning to Alaska earlier this year.

Here is initial video of her resignation:

She was a desperate attempt to gain favor with the female voter hoping to steal away some Hillary supporters from Obama and at the same time not freaking out the right. Interesting move but as we all know didn't pan out.

Nonsense, she needs some seasoning but is the best among the current crop of luminaries in either party. And her speech was coherent: something Obama can't do without the teleprompter and an army of speechwriters. She has been ambushed by the Democrat's attack team. Why do you buy into their rhetoric?

Democrats are nervous because they don't know what she's up to, but they do know that Sarah Palin would make a far better President than Barack Obama and his socialist cronies.

Sarah Palin kicked butt in Alaska - she shook up the 'old boys networks' in politics and won her fight with the oil companies - Sarah Palin brought the kind of change to Alaska that Obama voters thought they were getting by voting for Him. Now that people realize Obama brings more of the same to Washington - more of, more of the same in fact, the people will be desperate for a real change in 2012.

Besides all of her solid qualities...she's hot and owns an M-16. She'd get my vote! lol

She resigned because there is rumours of a sex tape about to be made public.

It must be for personal reasons. There's no political advantage for this move.

I know it sounds strange to most people, but she is a human being. The crap she's been putting up with for the past year is enough to make anyone go for an extended vacation. Preferably some place where the nastiest creature is on four legs, and is legal to shoot.

As for a sex tape, it doesn't surprise me to see epsi is the first one dumb enough to suggest it.

Bad taste in firearms; strike one. It would be okay for shooting gophers, but not for goblins. Now if she had that puppy converted to .50 Beowulf, THAT would get my respect.
