More British Nanny State Files

A British City council has told residents in an apartment block that their doormats and plant pots outside their doors are fire hazards and must be removed. (h/t Overlawyered)

Another local council has decided that no humor can be tolerated, so they have threatened a store owner with arrest if he doesn't stop posting funny material on his billboard.

Closer to home, the nanny state is taking on a family that is trying to make their garden friendly for wildlife. Meanwhile in the chief nanny state, the District of Columbia, a city councilor is proposing banning sales of pizza by the slice as a means to curb crime. (h/t Radley)

Can someone check Moyn's links to see if his summaries are factually accurate, instead of a typical Western Standard style bait and switch? I don't have time to fact check this one and it's a real problem here at the Western Standard - dishonest summaries of linked stories and factually inaccurate headlines, I mean.

Qualify that please. I have no trouble believing this, none. Its very much in line with England's Orwellian Nanny State doctrine.

Yes, the situation in the UK is ridiculous, but I do not think we have much about which to brag. We are still facing the tyranny of the HRCs along with government encroachment into just about every private area.
