The dark continent
EXCERPT FROM RIC DOLPHIN'S LATEST BLOG POSTING:
...Somehow we got onto the subject of Africa - I think it had to do with the Islamic government in the Sudan and its annihilation of the blacks in Darfur. I steered the conversation to the matter of Africa's general hopelessness and wondered aloud about Manal's thoughts on the matter? "Well, zey're all blacks," she said with a shrug in her voice, as if no further explanation were necessary.
Sometimes we in the liberal west forget that there is a whole big unenlightened world out there that doesn't share our evolved views on the equality of the races. It's probably fair to say that most of Arab, Oriental and South Asian society would be horrified to see its daughter bring home a black fiance. (I wonder how I'd feel were one of my daughters to do so? Probably okay if he were like Barrack Obama; not so much if he were like the rap artist 50 Cent. The photo below is clipped from his video "P.I.M.P." and shows the hip-hop artiste with a couple of his 'hos. I'd bet a good portion of the young thugs spreading terror in Africa listen to Mr. Cent on their cheap Chinese MP3s, probably seeing in him the apotheosis of black achievement.)
There is some rogue science out there that purports to prove the intrinsic mental differences of the races. When I worked at Maclean's in the late 1980s I wrote a story about a University of Western Ontario professor who'd produced a paper on relative brain size. It suggested Orientals were the smartest, least aggressive and least sexed; blacks were the dumbest, most aggressive and most sexed; whites occupied the middle ground. As one might imagine, this professor - Rushton, I think his name was - was, excoriated by all the all the powers of Canadian liberaldom, was censured by the university administration, and has not been heard of since.
The fact is, even if it were true, there is no way anyone in his right mind - certainly in the Western World - could publicly advance such a notion unless he wanted to be relegated to the nether land where banjos play and canned goods are stored in the basement under the portrait of Hitler. As my son John said, during a Sunday dinner visit a few months ago when I suggested the possibility of intrinsic intellectual differences between the races, "So what if it was true? How would that help anything?"
He has a point...

Intelligence varies widely not only by ethnic group, but also by sub-national and sub-municipal regions, and social "classes." It is a natural variance. By all means, scholars should be free to study it as they do any other natural phenomena, without censure. If he is to be mocked, let it be for his methodology or his conclusions, not for daring to ask the question in the first place.
That said, your son does indeed have a point; the practical application of any knowledge thus gleaned is very limited. It has potential vocational implications, but rather more public-policy implications, none of them good. So unless you want to go down the road of administering an impossibly complex patchwork of smart masters and dumb slaves--if by some miracle you manage to sidestep the 500-megaton-mine field of human rights--it's better to remain colour-blind and judge each man by his own merits. Which you should be doing anyway.

I think is was PJ O'Roake who wrote something like: In Bevely Hills people are as dumb as house plants and they drive around in beautiful cars and live in beautiful houses. In Russia, PhDs boil stones for soup.
I didn't do it justice, but the point is that economic liberty determines societal success. It works wherever it is tried in earnest -- and it would work in Africa.
I'm not sure how I feel about nude images on the Western Standard site. It's a bit shocking, but so is Ric Dolphin I suppose.

Moreover, the most persistent and obvious racism comes not from "the nether land where banjos play and canned goods are stored in the basement under the portrait of Hitler" but rather where pianos play and caviar and champagne are served under pictures of the Queen - in other words, the privileged white establishment of Toronto that has consistently turned a blind eye to the acute suffering of non-whites in Toronto. I pray that you people get what you deserve.

Shame on Ric. He posted this for shock value, which I guess is his shtick. Yet, it simply brings to the surface the latent racism of so many conservatives.
His concern that people can't test these types of theses is a problematic for academic freedom is reasonable, but posts like this merely engender conservatives' sadistic moral impulses that it's okay for police to target blacks (which results in more of them being in jail, especially for victimless crimes), that their disproportionate share of the U.S. prison population (which results in them not voting or owning guns -- the path to their liberation) is justified, etc.
And Ric teases these impulses in his post so his concern is not just academic freedom.

It is fair to say that Ontario's reputation for tolerance and racial harmony is a complete lie. It's a vicious, racist, prejudiced society where white people are privileged on the basis of the color of their skin.
I say that Ontario should be expelled from Confederation. Any takers?

And what about your own biases towards conservatives, Robert? Your stereotyping is far more blatant than Ric's is, to the point where the can be some question that expressing prejudice is even what he meant, when in your case there is simply no question.

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
We cannot walk alone.
And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.
We cannot turn back.
There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating: "For Whites Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.
And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.
Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.
Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.
But not only that:
Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.
Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!

This has everything to do with culture and location rather than colour or race. Within every group there is variation in intelligence and abilities. As for brain size that goes out the window when it was found that many birds (yes bird brains) show a higher level of intelligence than most mammals.
As for the typical leftist rant from Robert that conservatives are racists, I point out that identity or race politics are a product of the Left. Furthermore only idiots or the dishonest would claim that only white are guilty of racism. Of all cultures to-day European and Euro-North American cultures are the least racist, no thanks to the lefties who continue trying to play the race card.

A couple of things wrong with that theory.
Blacks aren't particularly dumb, but African blacks are incredibly dumb. It would be foolish to claim otherwise. They aren't going to get any smarter, either, as long as they keep getting handouts. Look what happens when they live in America for just one generation.
If Orientals are the least "sexed", why are there 2 billion of them? If they're the least aggressive, how do they manage to squeeze into every corner of America, and make a go of it?
If Whites are middle of the road, why weren't we shipped to Africa, and used for slave labour? Why were we moonwalking 35 years before Michael Jackson? Why did the Chinese ride bicycles(a British invention) for 75 years after we started driving around in good old American iron? Why did Tarzan crash-land in Africa, and become king of the jungle? And last, but not least, why do white people control 99% of the world's WMDs?
Maybe, instead of bashing white people at every opportunity, it would be a nice gesture to take the time to thank a white person. Sort of like thanking a Veteran on Nov. 11.

Every single human being on earth has some racist tendencies. Get over it, and keep it legal.

However, there population exploded from the beginning of the 20th century in large part because of European science, industry and medicine.

Something like a million whites were enslaved by Muslim pirates. However, it's not just about the mean or average IQ, it's also about the deviation. If you read Murray's book, Human Accomplishment, it's obvious that genius was the domain of European men and then Jews after their emancipation in Europe.

When caretaker government came in power, Tanzil fled the country along with his wife. Meantime, using his previous contact with Hizbut Towhid, Tanzil managed to get their support in opening a huge branch of this group in Kuala Lumpur. Through this branch, every year, a couple of millions of dollars is collected for Hizbut Towhid.
Tanzil also is doing manpower and ‘Hawala’ (money laundering) business in Kuala Lumpur. Most of the fleeing BNP or Hawa Bhaban men are seen at the above mentioned apartment at Taman Desa during late hours. It is even learnt that, Al Qaida’s threat fax to American Embassy and other embassies in Bangladesh was originated from this house of Tanzil Chowdhury.
Tanzil Chowdhury is also involved in various types of criminal activities. In Bangladesh Tanzil was continuing fraudulent activities with the help of his wife as well he was maintaining close relations with local terrorist groups. He was a close friend of ‘Pichchi Hannan’.
