Watchmen on the wall
Here's an heads-up for you. My blogging friend "Bene Diction" advises that several Canadian bloggers have started Religious Right Alert. The blog hopes to report and comment on the work of "social conservatives" particularly as it relates to their work in Ottawa and their political efforts in general. They will probably be sceptical of so-cons.
My own reaction, as a so-con, would be more along the lines of "Canada's religious right has a presence in Ottawa? They actually have some influence? If only that were so!"
However, I also wish them Godspeed too. Religion is newsworthy, and so often it is not covered in the Canadian media, or covered only superficially. Canada's "religious right" does share some similarities with their cousins in the U.S., but there are some significant differences too. If you are an editor, you can't just plug an American story into your newspaper and assume that you have automatically covered what is happening in Canada. We need to report on what is happening here too.
I may often disagree with them, but additional "labourers in the vineyard" are badly needed, if not overdue.

Another example of the mental disorder of the Left is all it is. The so-called imaginary religious right is as much of a danger as the so-called new-nazis or white supremacists. The actual threat and danger to our society continues to come from the Left.

I think danger comes from either extreme when the middle doesn't pay attention.
Alain, not everyone participating is 'left' (I assume you mean theologically and politically)
Thanks for this.

It's a left wing anti-Christian hit list site. I'll add them to my list of sites I need to attack.

Bene D, I am referring to the supporters of leftist ideology. While I agree that danger comes from either extreme, the number of extremists from the Left far outnumber the few from the Right in Canada. Of course they want us to believe otherwise which is why they always trot out the same phantom boogymen.

The religious right, hm! You mean that they might actually want to promote judeo-christian values or reduce abortions? Oh my, how horrible! We can't let that happen! Canada must become a godless land of gay marriage, polygamy, legal prostitution, swingers clubs and whatever else floats your boat! Let's drive that birth rate down to zero and finish off the nuclear family!

I note that Obama's Homeland Security has issued a paper claiming that right-wing extremists are the main threat while ignoring Islamic terrorism. As to who represents a right-wing extremist, it includes those who support smaller government and the removal of government from private lives. Not to have the correct view can now qualify one who represents a national security threat. It should also be noted that Obama has stated that he would like to see the creation of a national police force.
