The sound of his own voice

Amateur hour at the Obama White House:

President and First Lady Obama gave Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II a video iPod with inscription, songs uploaded and accessories, plus a rare musical songbook signed by Richard Rodgers.

Uploaded onto the iPod:

Photos from the Queen's 2007 White House State Visit
Photos from the Queen's 2007 Jamestown, Va., Visit Photos from the Queen's 2007 Richmond, Va., Visit
Video from the Queen's 1957 Jamestown Visit
Video from the Queen's 2007 Jamestown Visit
Video from the Queen's 2007 Richmond Visit
Photos from President Obama's Inauguration
Audio of then-state senator Obama's speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, and Audio of President Obama 2009 Inauguration Address

When Prime Minister Brown visited the White House last month, he gave the President a desk ornament made from the timbers of an anti-slaving ship. The President gave Mr Brown a boxed DVD set of American classic films. Tone deaf anyone?

Correction: Obama gave Brown a boxed set of Region 1 - North America only - DVDs. They're useless to him back in 10 Downing Street. Oops.

Quite right Goff. It was the article I quoted, but they got it wrong.

Who cares? What does any of this have to do with anything of any significance? Is a diplomatic etiquette blog?

Robert,

The Western Standard is in the same liferaft as the mainstream media.

Advertising revenues have fallen off a cliff and so they no longer have the resources to provide "thoughtful" coverage of real news.

So like the msm they just rehash superficial celebrity trash because its cheap and attracts ignorant and shallow eyeballs to get web hits.

It's game over for the Western Standard. Western Stupid is more like it.

Speaking of profound comments....

What Team Obama's amateur antics reveal is a lack of professionalism in conducting public affairs. That is a serious issue. If you can't get the basics right what about the more important stuff.

Publius, while you worry about who gave what gifts, the rest of us are worrying about the formation of sound economic policy and cooperation by these same people.

Grow up little girl.

I wonder what Obama's 'classic" films were?

Blacula?
The Brother from Another Planet?
Blackenstein?
Super Fly?
Willie Dynamite?
