The Lyin' Jackal is off to Ottawa

Yes, you read that right. But thankfully, not to work with Iggy. Or at least not yet (why Iggy would want to associate with a superannuated hack like Kinsella is beyond me).

No, our courageous detector of bathroom graffiti is being sued for defamation by someone he accused of being a right-wing extremist many years ago (sound familiar?). Actually, from what I can tell, Kinsella might be in the right here. But reading about the impending trial got me thinking about the contrast between the Jackal's concern for the power of white supremacist groups, and his indifference to the violent antisemitism we saw on the streets of Toronto and other Canadian cities last week. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any denunciations of the hate speech at these protests from the usual suspects who routinely defend Section 13 in the Canadian blogosphere.

Surely this is an oversight. Or maybe some forms of hate speech are more equal than others?

Clearly, you didn't look very hard:

You mean Count Iggy won't be getting Kinsilly's undivided attention with his expert advice and all that? Pity.

But BCL - the much feared :) Nazi hunters are remarkably silent and not-present to protest the protesters in Ontario, PQ and NB now are they?

Considering the neo-nazis in the EU have now linked up with the bikers - can the ARA be expected to actively investigate the KKK and Hell's Angels websites (snicker)and demonstrate outside the numerous clubhouses?

Dearest Shawn might try attempting to burn one of them? I feel TOTAL fear and trepidation among the various strikers and patches.

To be fair, Kinsella has been a staunch supporter of Israel these days.

I'm pretty sure he called out the "death to all juice" guy, too.

A couple of points:

BCL - fair enough. But your criticism of Muslim extremism was only a sub-point in a post which was mainly about (yet again) neo-Nazis. If you really care about hate speech, then surely you should be as disturbed by Hamas supporters calling for a new Holocaust as you are about Stormfront celebrating an old one.

Terence - I agree that Kinsella has defended Israel's right to exist. And he may have criticized some pf the ugly things said at the recent rallies. My point, however, is that he and Farber and Warman hyperventilate about a marginal group of extremist, yet appear relatively unconcerned about large groups of Canadians chanting death to the Jews in the streets of Toronto.

A quick check of history confirms that Hitler had an alliance with what we now call Islamists or Islamo-fascists. The Nazi Party was also socialist, like the NDP, so again no surprise in finding the same as bed partners.

Of course I understand that some are too busy checking out toilets and looking for "white supremacists". I have not encountered any but there is no shortage of Muslim supremacists.

And the ARA are also Marxists thugs = had a lot of dealings in Europe from after WW1 so it is no surprise the ARA want to continue some old homeland issue rather than take on the bikers and the Muslim extremists.

It is actually silly to call any one bunch of thugs neo-nazis as they are simply skinhead white extremists who like nice costumes that shock.

Same as calling Hell's Angels "motorcycle enthusiasts
