I would have to disagree with Al. I think Canadians would realize that when times are tight that the government should be fiscally prudent. That is Harper provided a stringent budget that kept it balanced they would appreciate the wisdom of that.
My wife disagrees. She says that essentially Canadians only care about what affects them personally. They could care less if the "gimmes" mean forcing future generations to pay. What can I get trumps principle - in fact Canadians see "what can I get" as a principle.
