Tried and true tactic

The PMO just announced that PM Stephen Harper will visit the GG tomorrow at Rideau Hall. He will in all likelihood ask for the House to prorogue. I predict GG Jean will agree, thus delaying any non-confidence vote until January.

Playing for time. It's Harper's best tactic.

And regarding his speech this evening: It can't have helped him that, at the very moment his speech began on CBC Newsworld, the crawl at the bottom of the screen was carrying news about the Globe's story about an alleged secret deal in 2000 between the Canadian Alliance and the Bloc. Ouch.

Meantime, for our Quebec readers: I've just been interviewed about the speech by Tristan Peloquin of La Presse. My comments should be in tomorrow's paper.

And in Ring Number Three....Jean Michelle

Sorry Terry, couldn't resist. This whole thing is a disgusting circus. When will we learn just how irreparably dysfunctional our "Parliamentary Democracy" really is?
