The Randy Marsh effect is starting
After the US election I wrote about the Randy Marsh effect. The good people at Politico are already starting to feel it. People believed that Obama was going to bring about a revolution. There was serious feeling that he was going to part the skies and bring Jerusalem to this our green and pleasant land. I for one have never heard of a revolution where the most passionate stalwarts ended up happy with the results.

It won't matter, some of his cult of worship will continue. Obama changed his policies and ran as pro-death penalty and pro-2nd amendment during the election. Since the campaign, he has moved towards the Bush/McCain position on Iraq. Also, he claims to be opposed to gay marriage. However, his supporters will vote for him for two reasons. One, he plans to increase the size of government involvement in the economy to what is seen in France or Germany. Also, he likes to hike taxes. Second, his race will help him with leftists. Leftists have a tendency to look at people based on what group(race, gender, etc.) instead of the person. They look at Barack and see black. I look and see a Jimmy Carter clone without the dorky teeth. His economic policies are a mix of Carter and McGovern. On foreign policy(though too late for him to screw up Iraq), he sounds more than willing to follow the Jimmy Carter school of international study. Anybody remember how Carter stood by and let the Ayatollah come to power in Iran? How many people remember that the guards at the U.S. embassy in Iran were under orders not to fire when the embassy was stormed? How about the Communist invasion of Afghanistan? Or the communist seizures of Nicaragua and Ethiopia? Better yet, how about the handoff of Zimbabwe to that psycho Mugabe?
