After all the fuss from the fuss-masters about Henry Morgentaler getting the Order, I can only interpret the willingness of Manning and Grey to accept the honour as an endorsement of his being given it. They are, after all, joining a club that gladly accepts him as a member.

Why didn't the Rt Hon William Shatner get this wonderful award ? after his great contribution to AstroPhysics ? he didn't play cover songs on late night TV - start a political party to fragment Canada. or kill any babies at all -Sheesh-- His executive producer was Lucille Ball for heavens sakes, what more could anybody ask as a cred check??

Lets all work together make this Order of Canada award the meaningless crass suck up thing it really i could be..start by giving the GG an award just for being the GG..we could us another awards show

Ottawa is probably acutely embarrassed by the whole Morgantaler thing and is most likely trying to restore some semblance of prestige to the Order. They could do a better job of that by kicking Morgantaler out. But I'm glad these worthies are being recognized, at least. They did more to help the country as a whole than that womb-ripper ever did.

Manning deserves it, big time! I also agree that Bill Shatner should have been inducted a long time ago.

Of course they actually deserve it, but I would have like to see them refuse it based on it insult of granting it to Morgentaler, the merchant of death.

What the heck has Paul Schafer done to deserve an Order of Canada? So he was on a late night talkshow. So what? What does that have to do with anything?

How pointless.

Paul Schäfer? He's a German cult leader and child molester currently doing time in Chile. Why is he getting the Order of Canada? For shame!!! Oh... Not him...?

Paul Shaffer is a Canadian musician, but before Suzanne gets her panties in a bunch, she might actually check to see what else he has done. Wikipedia (which NEVER lies) tells us that he has been the national spokesperson for Epilepsy Canada since 2002 and he has made significant donations to Lakehead University. I bet he has done a lot more charitable good works that makes his selection a very good choice. He also wrote "It's Raining Men", and that alone must be worth SOME major honour!
