Political beer

Btn2I interrupt the coverage of this ongoing political crisis with absurd yet amusing news. Activists in Quebec are launching a beer called L'Independante, the Independence beer. That's right. It is now possible to make a political statement by buying a beer.

The activists claim that all the profits will be going to the separatist cause. Not that there will be a lot of profits. What bar is going to carry this beer? Just by having it available they risk pissing off some federalist customer. Who is going to buy this beer? Who but the politically active really want to mix their beer choice with their politics?

I guess I can understand why they are doing this. In the past I've gone out of my way to find Liberty Beer (only places in Toronto is along Ossington).
