Today on Political Animals: a special treat!
A couple of weeks back, our guest was Frank Turek, an opponent of same-sex marriage. Today, we will be speaking with John Corvino, a philosopher who teaches at Wayne State University, in Detroit.
Dr. Corvino will be discussing, among other things, an article he wrote explaining why moral approval of homosexuality is or should be one of the goals of gay rights activists.
As I've suggested many times before, a weakness in the modern liberal position is the way it eschews morality (it doesn't really eschew it, but the appeal to morality is often cloaked.) Corvino's position seems to amount to a call to take back morality, or at least a part of it, from conservative opponents of same-sex marriage.
This will be interesting, I think.
We'll also be discussing the results from the recent American election. McCain was demolished, conservatism appears dead or dying. The Republicans are divided. Where does the philosophy of individual liberty fit into all this? Is libertarianism perhaps the future?
Maybe. But, even as a libertarian, I doubt it. You'll hear why if you tune in at 4 pm, EST.
If you have questions for us or for Dr. Corvino, please call in at 1-888-7-WBGUFM.
You can listen to us live, over the Internet, here.
