Dr. Roy's Convention Report: Monte Solberg at the Conservative Club of Manitoba
HM Minister Steven Fletcher and Monte Solberg
Monte Solberg
Collin Mayes, HM Minister James Moore and James Weston
I went to a breakfast sponsored by the Conservative Club of Manitoba (thanks Luc Lewandowski). The guest of honour was Monte Solberg. It was a great
event.
Many MP's and two Cabinet Ministers were in attendance. Monte is a great guy and I truly miss him as an MP, he gave a funny speech praising the accomplishments of the Tory party and mocking the Grits. He also said we are all responsible to make Canada a more conservative country. He said the party needs to be close to its grassroots. Somewhat ironic given statements of some Tory spokespeople.
During the questions I asked, as I always try to do, about the CHRA Section 13.1; I asked if the caucus was aware how deeply the base wants that section abolished. He said the HM, PM and the caucus were well aware of the concerns and they would be addressed, but in a cautious way. He said in a surgical way. After the speech I spoke to many of the MP's at the event and expressed my concerns about the HRCs. They all seemed on side on the issue. a good sign I think.

Addressed in a cautious way? Canadian speak for "we will continue stringing real conservatives around while we tilt the CPC to the left and ignore the jackbooting of the CHRC". This PM better damn well do something, like the Parliamentary inquiry he damn well promised us before calling an election we did not want. He is on probation in my book after giving him another term and he better deliver.
