Here's the speech that some Republicans are blaming for the failure of the bailout bill to pass the House:

Well, it was pretty clear Pelosi didn't really want this bill to pass (and neither did Obama, btw).
The dems think the financial "crisis" will benefit Obama, but I think they are mistaken. These are uncertain times, and who then wants to take a chance with Obama, who has not handled any crisis of any sort, and, moreover, was instrumental in creating this situation in the first place.

Yes this way it looks like they're doing something in a few days maybe after shooting it down again they'll pass it virtually unchanged so they look like they're being responsible.

Bingo! That was exactly my first thought when I saw the vote count and heard they were going to reconvene. Only 12 or so Republicans and the odd Democrat to grease and off we go to a new level of state control.

But I don't understand what all the fuss is about anyway....its only currency, right.
Just print a bunch of it up and everything will be ok, right?...won't it?

94-95 Donks voted against the bill.

Pelosi cannot rally her own majority.

Worst Majority House speaker ev'ah.

There's some very good reading at this link.

“We're turning risk investment funds into the hands of taxpayers,” pointing out that since no private investor wants to take responsibility for “risk investments, we're simply wall papering them on to the taxpayer, and this is monstrous.” Nobel Prize recipient in Economic Sciences, Joseph Stiglitz

The SEC and everyone else involved knew what they were doing when they did this.
