You gotta love the audacity of the GOP

In Congress on Friday, the Republicans were calling for more discussion on rising gas prices. When Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker, adjourned the House last week for August recess without allowing a vote on offshore drilling, a bunch of Republicans remained behind -- even after the lights went off.

From Politico:

Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Mike Pence (R-Ind.) led a spontaneous revolt to protest the Democrats’ decision to adjourn the House for the five-week August recess without giving the minority party a chance to speak out on rising gas prices. Even after Democrats turned off the lights and microphones, and with TV cameras shut down, Republicans kept talking and chanting, “Drill, drill, drill!”

The protest continues. On Monday, two dozen Republicans kept things going with speeches on topics ranging from the perfidy of the Democrats to  John Quincy Adams' view on slavery. They're demanding that Nancy Pelosi reconvene the House. While some of the protesters have gone home, others are joining the fight, including Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colorado) and Newt Gingrich (R-Awesome.)

As oil prices slid today, Republicans were even ready to take some of the credit for the drop. Politico reports:

“The market is responding to the fact that we are here talking,” said Republican Rep. John Shadegg.

“I think the market realizes that this kind of pressure may in fact lead to a change in policy.”

Speaking to reporters before entering the House chamber for a third day of speeches calling for votes on domestic oil drilling, GOP members said they had no plans to end the protest, which began when House Democrats adjourned for the summer last Friday.

According to a Dallas newspaper, You can even use Twitter to keep track of the protest. Cool!

Taking sheer Gall to new heights. The Government is the free markets parasite, not its controller.

I suspect that the zombie-like behavior of the Dems with their brain-dead spin-doctored talking notes (we can't drill ourselves out of this crisis, Big Oil already has 68,000,000 acres under lease, It's all Cheney's fault etc) are exposing their agenda of getting oil prices even higher and then, after the election, if Mr Quick Change (the Audacity of Hubris) is successful, can proceed to screw around with Euro weenie-like Carbon Cap and Trade, more taxes etc. I don't think the Guns, Six-packs and Jesus folks in the US will buy into it.

I also don't think that the racism bluff will work either.
