More evidence of fakery in Beijing

This is turning into the most unusual Olympiad I've ever seen: one which will be remembered fondly for everything except the host.

It really cracks me up when all the sheeple say "I'm so happy I don't live under that bad government over there. My glorious leader is much more wonderful."

We're living in Jonestown Guyana.

In other news ...

"Olympics buzz: Ugly side of China" (AP)

Two elderly Chinese women who applied to hold a protest during the Olympics were ordered to spend a year in a labor camp, a relative said Wednesday. The women were officially notified they would have to serve a year-long term of “re-education” through labor and were under surveillance by a government-backed neighborhood group, said Li Xuehui, the son of one of the women. Li said no cause was given for the order to imprison his 79-year-old mother, Wu Dianyuan, and her neighbor Wang Xiuying, 77. “Wang Xiuying is almost blind and disabled. What sort of re-education through labor can she serve?” Li said. “But they can also be taken away at any time.”

It's finally over and Canada won 18 medals. Most of the Canadian medal winners seem to be from BC, Ontario and Quebec. Other than the team equestrian there were no medal winners from Alberta.

In other news; The US boxing team had its worst showing in olympic history, winning only a single bronze medal. Does anybody think there'll be changes?

Meanwhile, Canada's pathetic failure to get a boxer close to the medal rounds has sparked an immediate reaction. It looks like the healing has begun. Quebec will have the first facility of its type in the world, an amateur boxing academy.

There will also be rule changes, including a return to 3 minute rounds, and scoring similar to professional boxing. There are plans in the works in Alberta for more competitions and trips. My sons are in the program at just the right time. It's the dawn of a whole new era in amateur sport in Canada, and especially in Alberta.

Maybe the guys who would normally box for the US are occupied elsewhere.

I watched some of the fights and they were f**king boring. Score 3 or 4 points then run for the rest of the fight. And they should get Micheal Buffer to add some excitement.
