City of Toronto to Regulate the Sun?
Legend has it that King Canute was able to hold back the sea! It seems now that the City of Toronto thinks that it too, like King Canute, can hold back the Sun. (thanks to my former student for this story).
What is amazing is the hubris that the City has in undertaking the endeavor. But of course, we should not be surprised. After all, cities these days think they have solved obesity problems by banning transfats, violence by banning guns, and all sorts of other problems by passing more bans. Now if only we we could ban stupidity.

Well, it's not THE stupidest thing the Toronto people have done, but it's close. Number one is of course re-electing Mayor Miller. Now his incompetence is their fault. Brilliant! Second is cheering for the Jays and Leafs. Losers.

Please, please, PLEASE tell me you clipped and pasted that story from the Onion....
Reminds me of the story: "Earth going to Hell in a Handbasket: 32% of prayers being deflected by satelites!"

This sounds suspiciously like Mr. Burns' plan to block out the sun. Please don't tell me that Tronna's Silly Hall is getting their ideas from TV shows. Heaven help us if they ever watch "Rescue Me"

Thanks for the image idea, ZP. Inspired.

A good time to get into the tree planting business in Toronto.

This is Toronto you're talking about. What did you expect????

Only in Toronto would they demand more solar energy while plotting to blot out the sun. Toronto is a tragedy wrapped in a farce.
What gets me is that Toronto people claim to be so enlightened and intelligent, yet have such deep prejudices. I thought knowledge was supposed to destroy prejudices, but in Toronto's case it appears to reinforce them. No wonder that city is such a mess. Avoid at all costs.

They want to create more shade? At what time of the day, month, year? The angle of the sun at 1:00 pm is way different than at 5:00pm. To the city of Toronto I say good luck with that.

I am a Toronto resident and have been for over 40 years. Much though it pains me to admit it - THIS IS INDEED AN ACCURATE REFLECTION OF TORONTO MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT UNDER DAVID MILLER.
David Miller - that blond bastion of all that is healthy and good and permits him to continue to suck at the public trough like the parasitic and useless waste of space and air we all know him to be - is part of the TIN-FOIL HAT BRIGADE.
There isn't a "trend" that wafts past that doesn't get David Miller's attention. That is one of David's problems. DAVID MILLER SUFFERS FROM POLITICAL ADD. Because of this condition, David Miller actually believes that "banning" guns is a "solution". See what I mean about Political Attention Deficit Disorder? It can be very dangerous...
Should some feminist group suggest it, DAVID MILLER WILL HAVE HIS CITY COUNCIL BAN PENISES. That way, all those OTHER guys in Toronto will have to be JUST LIKE DAVID MILLER AND HIS BUDDIES (presuming any living, breathing male person would admit to being David Miller's buddy!)
David Miller - aka His Blondness, His Blandness, El Stupido Supremo - leaves a NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT. In his own wacky world, David should self-immolate. We're waiting...

Agreed - the whole idea of a "shade audit" sounds kind of stupid. But the article said that there is no cost attached to the audits and if the result is more trees in the parks and shady places for kids to play so they don't get burnt...is that really so bad? But any excuse to bash Toronto, right?

Face it: Toronto is, in modern lingo, pwned! And the best part is you people have no one to blame but yourselves. You re-elected Miller, which means anything he does is your fault. Have fun, losers. I'm laughing all the way.

Who loves the sun? Not everyone.
