Coren and Levant chat about freedom of speech

Michael Coren, who used to debate Karen Selick in the Face Off column for us when we were printing magazines, and Ezra Levant, who used to publish those hard-copy glossy pages, sat down together recently for a heart-to-heart about speech in Canada.

The result is worth the watch.

For your viewing pleasure, here are the YouTube videos of the show:

The rest after the jump.

Normally Ezra likes to use J.S. Mill's arguments for free speech, and he did that here, but it looks like Levant's been reading some Rand as well. He sounded positively Roarkian when he was talking about man's right to control his own mind.

I loved it when Coren tried to compare the publication of those cartoons with "attacks on Christians and Jews everyday around the World".
Talk about "fair and balanced" journalism...
I was glad to hear it in the first segment of this interview so I've stopped wasting my time listening this "neocon's tap on the back" interview. I would like to take this opportunity for congratulating Ezra Levant for his calm during the segment I've watched. I was surprised but then, I did realised maybe that's because he knew he was in good hands.

Mr. Levant dedicated most of his life tarnishing everything that is not a neocon or a close friend. Maybe that's why nobody cries now that he got burned with his latest fire.

Anybody ever heard of this "Peter and the Wolf" story?

Freedom of Speech is a thing that every Canadians should be willing to die for in Canada.
But his combat has nothing serious in it.
He knew dam well it will provoked at least something and now that he gets it, he's crying everywhere he can.

If he would take it as a real Man and if he'd never had threatened anyone with lawsuit for their opinions, be sure hundreds of thousands would support him.

Ask yourself: Would you react if the bully on your street gets beaten by another kid?

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Marc,

"Ask yourself: Would you react if the bully on your street gets beaten by another kid?"

So, if a Muslim were to commit horrible crimes like rape, murder, etc. in Canada AND THEN a skinhead beat him (unrelated to the original crime), you'd be ok with that?

It's your analogy. Don't blame the messenger.

"Mr. Levant dedicated most of his life tarnishing everything that is not a neocon or a close friend"

That's about the most vacant accusation of Levant yet...and it tells me you haven't the slightest idea of Straussian politics. You have to know what a fascist is before you can ID one.
