It's a good video, but aside from one UK flag, there isn't much coalition participation.

A Liebral from Tronna would make a big issue out of this, and call for all kinds of ridiculous "punitive" measures against the "evil" United States. Shows how in touch with reality they are.

A great tribute as far as it goes. The efforts of the Brits are only acknowledged briefly. Canadians have been fighting and dying in Afghanistan, but I don't see any reference to that.

Although I support our troops 100% this is a war that can never be won and eventually we will leave with our tail between our legs, like the Soviets and the British before them. We want to give them democracy and they hate us because we are "infidels". No one has asked them if they want democracy. They have infinite patience and life is cheap. They have also learned that wars are political and when the cost and body count get too high the "invaders"will be pulled out. What we should have done is simply bombed the snot out of them and left it at that. Everything since the bombing of Bora Bora mountains has been a mistake.

PeterJ, as long as Taliban know there are people in Canada like you who write Bora Bora instead of Tora Bora and are ready to show the white flag of surrender they will stand and fight. What you're displaying here is pure defeatism and lack of knowledge and appreciation for what the coalition forces have done since 2001. Get a clue, plz!

I wonder, had PeterJ been around in 1942 after Dieppe would he have advocated quitting in the fight against the Nazis because it was hard and dangerous and they were winning anyhow?

We take it for granted now that the Second World War was winnable because we won. But from the perspective of the hundreds of thousands of Canadians who put their lives on hold in the early 1940s to serve their country, it was no sure thing. When most of them signed up, we were losing and defeat was a real possibility. But they knew it was up to them and their generation to stop Germany's plan for world dominance. So they did their duty not knowing if they would win or lose.

Are we Canadians of the 21st Century made of lesser stuff than the men who stormed Juno Beach and Vimy Ridge?

I don't want to pay 2 cents for any soldier's fun and games overseas and now I'm supposed to feel emotional too when one of them gets their head blown off after sticking it where it doesn't belong?

These guys are "saving" my civilization? Bullpoppy! They're part of the welfare state living off my back. If they were genuine defenders of freedom, their salaries would come from voluntary donors.

Winston and JMD, should be raising their own money to support these overseas adventures instead of pretenting to have a right to my life, my time or my blood.

We bombed Bora Bora? French Polynesia Bora Bora? I don't think the french are going to be happy about this!

Excellent post, PG.

My only disagreement is that winston and jmd shouldn't be raising money. They should be putting on some black cadillacs and getting on an airplane.

Right on peterj: Killing the criminals would've been smarter than an invasion. Now we've joined many other thuggish, insecure nations in foreign aggression.

JMD....There is no common ground with Europe in 1942.We were helping friends and were worried that all of Europe would fall to Hitler. The big picture today is totally different. We have no business there and little to gain even if we were to win, which we wont. We can't liberate people that only see us as invaders and hate christians in general. Over two thousand years of history shows the futility of this venture.

Tom....you are right, too quick on the keyboard. Are the French ever happy about anything though ??.

Winston....I do not in my wildest dreams ever see us putting up a white flag or surrendering. We will keep kicking the shit out of them right up to the time we leave, but wars are political and while our troops pay with loss of life and limb our political masters will weigh the cost with dollars and votes.I believe most Canadians support our troops, but not this war.
