Liberty vs. Security: Insights from Lorne Gunter
In my post “Liberty vs. Security: Insights from Dr. Moin Yahya,” I shared news that Dr. Yahya will be speaking at the May 17th Freedom Fair in Edmonton as part of a panel on national security.
Today I have the pleasure to report that columnist Lorne Gunter will also be part of this panel.
Lorne Gunter is a columnist and editorial board member at the National Post and a columnist with the Edmonton Journal. He has been a commentator on political and social issues since 1995 and has published nearly 2,000 pieces in that time. He also maintains a blog at www.nationalpost.com.
An occasional panellist on the CBC’s The National, Gunter is also a frequent guest on Adler Online on the Corus Radio Network. He has published essays and opinion pieces in various newspapers and magazines, including Readers’ Digest, National Review, the Weekly Standard, TechCentralStation and others.
In addition to his journalism, Gunter is the past-president of Civitas – a society for conservative and libertarian academics, think-tankers, lobbyists and journalists – and a former member of the advisory board of the Canadian Constitution Foundation.
To get a feel for where Gunter might be coming from in this discussion, read “Lorne Gunter on surveillance cameras in public places: Expensive, intrusive and ineffective.”
The Freedom Fair will take place from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Gunter will be speaking from 1:15 PM – 2:00 PM. Admission for this all-day event is $10, and you can learn more here.

No offence to Mr Gunter, but I'm picking Dr Yahya to win in the third round by tap out.

Lorne is a good columnist and a better speaker. He's well worth going to listen to.
If you like his columns you won't be disappointed to hear him in person. He was a favorite on the Western Standard cruises.

I think this'll be a memorable debate.

Lorne is always great.

I agree Stan. But Dr Yahya is also superb and his views are rational and divergent. It's only a matter of time before the gloves come off.
