When one lie doesn't work, try a new one
That seems to be Communist China's modus operandi; just days after a "terror raid" in Urumqi, East Turkestan was exposed as a fake, they hatch up another "terror plot."
Meanwhile, their Korean puppets may have been caught helping their Iranian allies get nuked up.
All that (and more), here.

Authoritarian regimes lie pretty much as a matter of routine. Conversely, democracies will mostly be truthful, or at least, avoid actually lying. This is observable and also makes sense if one thinks about it.

All regimes lie.
The democracies are just better at it because they have to appear to govern with consent.
China got caught in a lie here because, up until recently the western governments have wanted to believe China's lies, so China didn't try hard enough to make the lie more convincing.
I'm sure they'll do better next time.
