I think the word "raided" is a little over the top.
They executed a search warrant in order to have access to certain records that may or may not implicate the CPC in questionable conduct.
Let the investigation take it's natural course. Let's sit back and wait for the results.

How is this even a "raid"? No battering ram. No SWAT team. No forcible entry. No seizing of the proceeds of crime. The use of the term "raid" is completely unjustified and was applied first by Canadian Press (for less than journalistic reasons) and mindlessly copied by other media outlets.

"InOttawa"
Yeah,
for a credible name...you couldnt find a better one.

Oh drat! They're on to Harper! How dare he try to make life better for people outside of Toronto!

Perhaps this is a liberal inspired raid to find out if the CPC spent too much on pamphlets or whatever.

I think they are simply pissed because since they got caught stealing tax money to run their campaigns they can't afford to pay the media to tell Canadians about the soldiers with guns in our streets and I'm not making this up.

Now that the majority of campaign money has to be sucked out of the individual Canadian, we are finding out what cheap mofos the Left are. They only like to use other peoples money. Their own money is for wine and getting laid and Starbucks coffee.

I predict that nothing will come of this so called raid.

I wonder who alerted the media about the visit? In particular, who told the Liberal Party so they could have a camera team there ready to film?

This stinks to high heaven. It was the Conservative Party that started the legal action against Elections Canada; this smacks of retalitation.

Memo to next Tory leader: upon taking office fire every Liberal appointee straight away.

Hey, Patrick B;

You wrote:

They did. It was a CONservative apointee that sent the RC's in to raid the offices.

Your heroes are in deep trouble.

As a libertarian thinker I really don't favour libs, torries or ndp/greeners but like to think (not nessecarily believe) that they all have something to offer to the political process. If we are in agreement that politics is inherently corrupt, this is simply a matter of degrees. We all know that this 'raid' represents little more than an opportunity for the 'marks' of the world to wave the liberal flag, as if it wasn't smeared with the same crap. I don't mean to point 'mark' out as a negative example, but he is just a partisan example.
I have been all over this blog site and the level of piss fighting is incredible.
Isn't there anymore REAL dialogue available anywhere. Am I the only one craving REAL debate instead of this piss ant banter and bashing one upsmanship. (All rhetorical questions of course) We are doomed to suffer the mediocrity of the lowest common demoniator education system the libs so love and the torries do so very little to improve. I don't think it really matters who the low ballers are, left, right or psychiatric...let us just turn the quality of discussions up a notch...the Shotgun Blog deserves better.

crusader, like your attitude.

As a libertarian, I would not defend the conservatives except the other parties are interested in encroaching on our freedoms more. But what really is the alleged crime? The election laws are a joke anyway. People much wiser and benevolent than us have determined what we cannot do with our money, surely not for their own interest, and now there is some crime.

Far too often people allow their party politics to override common sense, common justice and their own basic human instincts. It reeks of massthink and degrees of self-inflicted mind control.

LOL! SURPRISE SURPRISE! MONEY LAUNDERING, RIPPING OFF TAXPAYERS FOR ELECTION EXPENSES, BRIBES, corruption, allowing Mulroney to get away with nearly $3 million worth of taxpayers money, with all evidence of the crimes and the trail leading right back to ...... THE HARPER PROGRESSIVE CONservative Party of Canada!!!!!

Harper did say he was going to clean up--little did we know he meant as in clean out taxpayers for every penny his party can milk out of us to fund their election schemes! How were they going to get the money to pay the late Hon. Chuck Cadman? What slush funds have they set up? Was Mulroney not enough of a sleaze bag that we are now getting a repeat performance from Little Brian Mulroney Stevie Harper?

We need a special prosecutor to investigate these crooked clowns and throw them all in jail!

They are conservative with the truth and honesty and liberal with our tax money! Con Artist Party of Canada!

ALBERTA, KEEP YOUR CROOKS AT HOME IN YOUR ONE-PARTY PROVINCE!

Harper and his cronies sure blew it by stonewalling and fillibustering the investigation for a year and a half.

Now they get to make history as the first federal party to have their offices raided by the RCMP. Congrats, schmucks.

Harper is like Mulroney, Baby Bush and Kim Campbell all smooshed together. Looks like the CONs will be back down to two seats again....

Well, its only an RCMP raid if you read the headlines and don't actually read the story:

"RCMP Cpl. Jean Hainey said the RCMP was only assisting.

"It is not an RCMP investigation. We're there to assist, but that's it." "

Who are these guys? (see above 2 posts) And what does this tripe add to the quality of the discussion. Gentlemen, turn up the quality and turn down the suck! While I have to admit that S. Harper scares me a little, so does the obvious media circus set-up of this 'raid'. Even the choice of the word 'raid' has to be considered biased, perhaps due to the litigation brought forward by the torries against Elections Canada. The media seemed just a little too happy to turn a non event into a bit of a reality show. If there is a case against the torries, the courts are the place to determine innocence or guilt, not the CBC news department.
The new 'left' extreme is starting to remind me alot of the old right extreme. Neither one promotes intelligence or considered thought and both promote most of the nonsense comments which infest these blogs. I just hope there is enough mud to go around with all the slinging on display here.
For the sake of REAL argument gentlemen, please try harder to be rational.

Re: crusader10's call to "...please try harder to be rational."

A laudable request, but one that won't be met. In order to be rational, one has to have the ability to use the left brain, which is where logical thought originates. Too many people use only their right brains, which is where the emotions originate.

Emotional people are incapable of rational thought. That's why you can never win an argument with them. Further, since the highest need of an emotional (right-brained) thinker is to feel good, they will support anybody or anything that will give them their high.

That's why it is becoming increasingly easier for the Canadian socialist cause to gain ground here. While the first loyalty of left-brained/logical thinkers is to principal (principals of virtue, right-and-wrong, etc.), the first loyalty of right-brained/emotional thinkers is to people (people who make them feel good, people who give them power, etc.)

For this reason, the irrational people who post, the "people who need people," can't magically become rational upon request, regardless of how much you want it to be.

LOL! Crusader10 is Harper loyalist and CON Party apologist. When is Harper going to tell the truth and stop lying and spinning and covering up? It took decades for this level of corruption to creep into the Liberal Party--it has taken months for Harper's CONservatives to become totally corrupt. What next? Bribery, money laundering, war crimes cover-up, letting Mulroney get away with $3 million of taxpayers' money, blowing the surplus on partisan spending and setting Canada up for a deficit, attacking provinces on the world stage to drive away investment, lying about taxing income trusts, getting MPs to cross the floor, appointing an unelected senator to the cabinet, appointing totally incompetent hacks to represent Canada on the world stage where they embarrass us all, reneging on signed international agreements and destroying Canada's hard won reputation for fair dealing and as a peacekeeping nation, the litany of CON crimes, corruption and abuses knows no limit! Anything is possible under Harper. He is unscrupulous and ethically challenged!

roger claims "LOL! Crusader10 is Harper loyalist and CON Party apologist."
Well roger, thank you for adding me to your hit list. As I have scanned many of the posts on this blog site, I see that you are prolific, yet woefully lacking in depth of knowledge, as demonstrated by your assumption. You seem to be happy just to attack anybody that you think isn't a facimile of your partictular cohort. I see that you have put me in good company in this endeavor.
If you put half the energy into developing a logical and reasonable argument that you put into character assasination, you would be of far greater benefit to the discussions upon which you impose your selfish and rather distasteful pouts. You don't so much as have an interest in anything other than bashing, which is a shame because you waste so much of everyone's time and ultimately...your own.
For your information and personal enjoyment roger, I have never been referred to as an apoligist for any political party, let alone a CON party in my life. I believe that is becaused I have NO party affiliation to speak of, which again adds to the folly of your assumption. This of course brings into question your powers of observation and ability to see anyone else as anything but an enemy combatant. You are further lacking in your ethics, as demonstrated by your self congradulatory rhetoric and inability to discuss intellegently. I see your name all over the comments in these pages and you are, if nothing else, consistant. Merely being consistant, however, is a poor measure of intelligence and integrity. You seem to have 'some' intelligence but you definately have no integrity. You just shoot off like a 12 year old brat who would rather destroy ALL the toys than share them nicely with others, which is so very telling.
J. Pankewicz described you much more eloquently and precisely than I ever could. You seem strangely proud of the very little you bring to the table and good luck with that. Has anyone on these posts, even your allies, ever congradulated you on making a good point? As I have not yet been exposed to a good point you have made, I think not. It also appears you double post and even quote and respond to what are surely your own words. This is a very pitiful way to get the attention you crave. There is a weakness in such acts which speaks volumes. You however will not get it.
Since you are so disrespectful to just about everyone else, I have to be frank, you just don't deserve anymore of my time and efforts. Please feel free to tell everyone what an absolute genius you are and feel equally free to add me to your ever increasing list of character assasinations. Comming from someone of your dubious distinction, it will indeed be a compliment.

Crusader10, your verbose homage to me is touching, if lacking in eloquence and oratorial splendor and wit! But I am flattered you invested so much time on me. I am humbled.

I obviously struck a nerve with respect to your being a CON apologist. It is clear for all to see, your protests notwithstanding, to use that much abused constitutional word. The more you deny it, the more obvious it is too see.

Keep up the good work! Cheerio.
