Unbelievable

I went to bed last night depressed that my friend Jeremy Harrison had lost his provincial election in Saskatchewan's Meadow Lake riding by 1%, and I wondered if it was the same vote-rigging that caused him to lose the last federal election by 73 votes. Some of the poll stations in that election had more than 100% turn out, overwhelmingly for -- surprise -- the Liberal candidate.

But this morning it turns out that last night's vote count was wrongly tabulated -- and now Harrison leads by 17 votes.

After his 2006 loss, Harrison had a recount, but didn't pursue the vote-rigging any further. I doubt the NDP will be as magnanimous in their defeat.

Harrison was an excellent MP for his brief term -- very strong on policy. He'll make a great MLA for Saskatchewan, and I would expect him to be appointed to cabinet. Given his strong rapport with Stephen Harper and the Conservative government in Ottawa, Interprovincial Affairs would seem a natural fit.

Ezra Levant - Some of the poll stations in that election had more than 100% turn out, overwhelmingly for -- surprise -- the Liberal candidate.

It was near 100% turnout, not more than 100%. A judicial recount confirmed the results. In your mind are all close contests the result of vote rigging? Tony Clement won by 28 votes, was that a case of vote rigging?

"Vote Rigging" as you refer cheating at the polls has been standard practice in many Atlantic Canada Provincial and Federal Ridings for many, decades,
the concept being, who cheats, wins. Liberal governments have spent many thousands of dollars upgrading traditional Loyalist Graveyards in the
Region so that the long dead can appear on current voter lists. But there are no recent events recorded
-how could a vote "be rigged" in the Worker's Paradise, I am shocked and more or less appalled
in the Picture Province, Division of the Irving
Group of Companies -thanks for a good laugh.MacLeod

Poor Jeremy, he'll have to learn how to play the cheating game. This is another just like the last one? If so there should be an investigation.

O'Reilly - add to the 100% turn out polls (does not happen in the North - but with a free TV for voting - why not? Add to that, that it is very easy to determine if the voters getting the TV voted properly; ie Liberano, in a 20 person riding where the DOR knows everyone on a first name basis.
Then there were the 'lost' ballots..lost in limbo for hours...we never had an explanation for that!

We get this type of thing in the Yukon too.

I am so glad to hear that Jeremy has won. He will be a excellent addition to the new government in Sask.

This too is UNBELIEVABLE - except that it involves the Toronto Red Star:

"The Toronto Star engages in some...creative...headlining."

"PM tells cities to drop dead"

Actually, attributing words to someone that never actually said them could be grounds for legal action if those words cast that person in a poor light.

I doubt Prime Minister Stephen Harper will take any action - the Toronto Star pulled their terrible headline.

The headline was changed, but without any apology or acknowledgment. But the Toronto Star has some explaining to do.

A quick search reveals that the word "dead" does not appear in the story.

Nor, apparently, does an apology to Prime Minister Stephen Harper for misleading Canadians as to what the prime minister said.

THE LEFTOID Toronto Red Star playing politics instead of reporting. Is it any wonder that so many of us disparage this Leftist rag with such regularity?

"Author Norman Mailer, Who Penned "The Naked and The Dead" Dead at 84"

Norman Mailer, the macho prince of American letters who for decades reigned as the country's literary conscience and provocateur, died of renal failure early Saturday, his literary executor said. He was 84. Mailer died at Mount Sinai Hospital, said J. Michael Lennon, who is also the author's official biographer.

I WILL ALWAYS remember the "gifted" convict that Mailer sprung from prison, only to see him murder an innocent waiter who showed him where to "use the bathroom."

To me that is his greatest "legacy".

And here you can see what the Left had to say when Clinton (and not W.) was in office:

“Saddam’s goal … is to achieve the lifting of U.N. sanctions while retaining and enhancing Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction programs. We cannot, we must not and we will not let him succeed.”

— Madeline Albright, 1998

“(Saddam) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain he will use that arsenal again, as he has 10 times since 1983

— National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Feb 18, 1998

“Iraq made commitments after the Gulf War to completely dismantle all weapons of mass destruction, and unfortunately, Iraq has not lived up to its agreement.”

— Senator Barbara Boxer, November 8, 2002

“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction.”

— Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002

Sounds like the same ballot box magic landslide Annie pulled off in Edmonton south for 3 elections....until the CPC found out how she was doing it...having her supporters vote with their office address as well as their home address...getting on the voters list twice with different addresses....when caught she just blamed elections canada for screwing up the voter's list...slick...Libranos are the masters of the rigged ballot....ALL Librano tight wins should be investigated.

Hey! Can we recall Al Bore's Nobel Peace Prize & award it to the King of Spain?

"Spanish King Tells Venezuelan President Chavez to 'Shut Up'"

SANTIAGO, Chile — The Ibero-American summit ended on an unusually heated note Saturday, when an angry verbal spat culminated with the king of Spain telling Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to "shut up."

Chavez, the outspoken leftist leader who called U.S. President George W. Bush the "devil" on the floor of the United Nations last year, triggered the exchange by repeatedly referring to former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar as a "fascist."

Aznar, a conservative and a close Bush ally who backed the U.S.-led war in Iraq, "is a fascist," Chavez said in a speech to leaders from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. "Fascists are not human. A snake is more human."

Spain's current socialist prime minister, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, responded during his own allotted time by urging Chavez to be more diplomatic in his words and respect other leaders despite political differences.

"Former President Aznar was democratically elected by the Spanish people and was a legitimate representative of the Spanish people," he said, eliciting applause from the gathered heads of state.

Chavez repeatedly tried to interrupt, but his microphone was off.

Spanish King Juan Carlos, seated next to Zapatero, angrily turned to Chavez and said, "Why don't you shut up?"

And Muslims demonstrate their compassion once again on how to treat refugees:

"Egyptian police shoot Eritrean trying to cross border into Israel"

Egyptian police shot dead an Eritrean trying to illegally enter Israel overnight, a security source said on Saturday.

Police shot Henna Mohammed Mohammed, 24, in the thigh as he tried to cross into Israel south of Rafah, disregarding police orders to stop. He later died of his wound, the source said.

Egypt's eastern border is the scene of frequent attempts by Egyptians and foreigners to cross into Israel to smuggle goods or search for work. Police have opened fire at many of the migrants and had previously killed at least on Sudanese, one Eritrean, and one Turk this year.

SO THIS MUSLIM WAS IN MUSLIM EGYPT and wanted to find refuge in Jewish Israel. Instead, this Muslim was killed by his fellow Muslims. The Religion of Pieces at work again.

As witnessed in last week's DemoRat debate, Hillary cannot handle unscripted questions. Her campaign twice tried to plant questions among sympathetic voters in Iowa this week - like Bill did in 1992 with "ponytail" man:

"Another Question Planted by Team Hillary?"

In a telephone interview with Fox, Geoffrey Mitchell, 32, says he was approached by an operative for the Clinton campaign to ask a planted question about standing up to President Bush on Iraq war funding. The encounter happened before an event on a farm outside Fort Madison, Iowa. The Clinton event was hosted by Iowa State Sen. Gene Fraise.

Mitchell tells Fox that Clinton campaign worker Chris Hayler approached him and asked him to ask Sen. Clinton a question about how she was standing up to President Bush on the question of funding the Iraq war and a troop withdrawal timeline.

Mitchell told Fox the Clinton campaign wanted to contrast Clinton to Sen Barack Obama, who had recently said the president would probably prevail in the Iraq funding battle with Congress.

Mitchell said he refused to ask the question.

THE REPUBLICANS SHOULD POST BANNERS at all her campaign stops from here on in that say:

PLANT TREES - NOT QUESTIONS, HILLARY!

But Leftoids are in favour of free speech, right?

"In Venezuela, there's no freedom 'after' expression"

Critics of Venezuela's narcissist-Leninist President Hugo Chávez often joke that in Venezuela there is freedom of expression, but not freedom after expression. Last week, their pun proved right. Twelve students were wounded at the state-run Central University of Venezuela in Caracas as they were returning from an 80,000-strong opposition protest in front of the Supreme Justice Tribunal.

EXCELLENT column - well worth reading.

Can you imagine Leftoid reaction to the US executing some Islamofascist terrorists? But they'll be silent to China's killings. Probably selling their internal organs first.

"China sentences three Uighurs to death for terrorism"

Beijing - A court in China's Central Asian region of Xinjiang has sentenced three men to death for terrorism and separatism and handed suspended death sentences or life imprisonment to three others, state media said on Sunday. The court in Xinjiang's Kashgar city convicted the six, who appeared from their names to be from the Uighur minority, on charges linked to 'separating the nation, organising and leading a terrorist group' and illegal production of explosives.

THERE IS HARDLY a terrorist movement in the world that doesn't benefit from weapons produced by China - if not Chinese political philosophy as in India and the regions surrounding, if not outright training and some clandestine cash. The last thing the Chinese can afford is a home-grown terrorist movement - hence they will be ruthless in crushing any signs of one. But they can't stop everything and bus explosions there for one haven't all been "accidents".

Will there be a compartment to house a bomb, too?

"Report: Car Company Considers Vehicle for Exclusively for Muslims"

A national automaker is considering an Iranian proposal to design a car exclusively for Muslims, CNSNEWS.com reported Monday.

Among the features on the proposed vehicle are compasses that point toward Mecca and compartments for the Koran and prayer scarves, CNSNEWS.com reported. Proton, a Malaysia-based car maker, may agree to develop the “Islamic Car.”

“The car will have all the Islamic features and should be meant for export purposes,” Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir told the Malaysian Bernama news agency, adding that with government support, the producers could expect a large volume of orders.

AND HOW ABOUT A "special" compartment for those skulls after each beheading? That would be a vital selling point, too!

They will need a lot of automatics for all the one handed drivers.

Well, look who's in charge of educating future reporters:

"Missouri Journalism Professor Admits Plagiarism"

COLUMBIA, Mo. — A distinguished University of Missouri-Columbia journalism professor will no longer write a weekly newspaper column after admitting he plagiarized material from a student reporter.

John Merrill, a professor emeritus at the university's School of Journalism, wrote a Sunday column for the Columbia Missourian, a community newspaper affiliated with the school.

His Nov. 4 column about the university's women's and gender studies program used three quotes and other phrases taken directly from an Oct. 5 article in The Maneater, an independent student newspaper, according to the Missourian's executive editor, Tom Warhover.

Warhover disclosed the plagiarism in his own column Sunday. A review of Merrill's earlier work by Missourian editors found five more columns in which at least one quote had been taken from other publications without attribution, Warhover wrote.

AND WHO CAN FORGET WARD CHURCHILL at the U. of Colorado who ALSO PLAGIARIZED in his work!

Universities - the home of the NEW ETHICS of the Left!
