Quebec voters wanted to WHAT?!?!?

Leave it to Stephane Dion to say something so ridiculous as to bring me back from self-imposed blogging exile.

In his desperate attempt to stop the Iggy-Rae train from running him over, Dion came up with this inventive explanation for his party's meltdown in the Q - it was a protest vote against the Afghanistan mission (G&M): "Most people decided to support the NDP candidate. They thought maybe that it was a clear signal about their disagreement with the current government."

That explains why the only unequivocally pro-mission party (the Conservatives) won nearly 60% in Roberval and came within five points of winning in St. Hyacinthe.

By the way, in case anyone is curious, if the vote swing in the the francophone ridings were played out in a federal election, the Conservatives would win two dozen more seats in Quebec, pass the Bloc for the largest federal caucus in the Q, and come within half-a-dozen seats of a majority.

And that doesn't include the Ontario voters who went Liberal in 2006 because that was the only federal party with strength in Quebec (until, of course, they started counting the votes in the Q on election night).

Quebec voters sent the government a message alright - the message was "four more years."

Right you are D.J., what an example of desperate, convoluted logic from poor Mr. Dion.
Also the Conservatives got the most votes combining the three ridings.

Peacock Layton will be hard to take after this win but it may be more down to endorsing the Candidate than NDP policy.

Sad day for the Puffin Party. Iggy didn't look quite sad enough.

Dion? Desperate? Convoluted Logic?

How about sneaky?

OK, sneaky too.

Watch for the Libs to be traveling about in groups trying to appear united at an event near you.

...hey Marc, whaddya think of this?

Iggy was grinning like a cheshire cat when Dion was biting his lip as not to cry as he made his "they kicked our ass" defeat speech.

It would comical if the liberals did put Iggy in. Can you imagine the fun the press could have with that incompetent clown. Everytime he opens his mouth everyone around him goes "huh???"

The only one with any credibility is Bob Rae, and they won't put him in because his wife is Jewish.

Out goes one politically inept professor and in comes another. Maybe if the Liberals got over their find-the-next-Trudeau fixation they could become a serious political contender again.

And now for something completely just:

"O.J. Simpson Charged With 10 Felonies, Including Kidnapping, in Hotel Robbery"

LAS VEGAS — A man described as a key suspect has become the fourth person arrested in the case accusing O.J. Simpson of 10 felonies in the armed robbery of sports memorabilia collectors in a casino hotel room.

The man was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in to Las Vegas police, authorities said. Police have described Michael McClinton, 49, of Las Vegas, as "a key player."

McClinton arranged through his attorney to surrender. Two other men who have not been identified also are being sought by police.

Simpson was arrested Sunday after a collector reported that a group of armed men charged into his hotel room and took several items the former NFL great claimed belonged to him.

Simpson was booked on suspicion of assault and robbery with a deadly weapon. Clark County District Attorney David Roger filed those charges and added kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping, according to court documents.

Simpson, who was accused along with three other men, was also charged with one misdemeanor. He faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted.

HE FACES LIFE! Maybe there is some justice in this world yet!

The Liberals haven't learned a thing from the Chretien/Martin decade long feud for power, they're still divided into camps and in cannibalizing mode.
It's so bad they can't hide it, it's written all over their faces.
A party that's so wrapped up in it's own narrow power grubbing for it's Leader is not fit to be Official Opposition let alone presenting as a government in waiting.

Agreed....isn't it great???

...naw OJ won't go to jail.

The 'deadly weapon' trigger won't fit him with latex gloves on.

The Liberals a couple of other hurdles to get over as well before they can get their act together.

They have to learn humility and respect for the voters choices. It's not all about Liberals and their ingrained attitude of divine right to rule no matter how corrupted.

They have developed the worst case of supreme arrogance ever seen in Canadian politics.
