Have they No Shame?
Apparently the spirit of debate has led Columbia University to invite Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to their campus. Who will they invite next Kim Jong-il? Maybe Hizbullah could give a demonstration on suicide bombing?
No red lines at Columbia University

You are your fearmongering. The war on terror is a fraud. You'll pay more taxes for this bogeyman across the world. Cowards.

The real question of course is:
Will they ever invite a conservative speaker to campus with whom they disagree? We all know the answer to that, of course!
As to the War on Terrorism being a fraud, look up

and count the daily attacks that occur worldwide.
Not that I expect a terror denier to bother. It might contradict his mindset.

"Have they No Shame?" Nope, no depth to leftist ideology.
...to quote a famous sci-fi film:
"and I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes"

If he is invited to Columbia, let him go - it's their loss, and that university has a lot to lose in the long run. I hope alumni withdraw their funding and support for that once-prestigious institution.
I'm just glad that he has been denied the opportunity to despoil the World Trade Center site. That is holy ground, the funeral site for 3,000 innocent people killed by the Islamofascists. His presence there would have ruined it forever.

Are you kidding? Shame is not a word in the Left's vocabulary, just like evil, sin, repentance, honour, etc. Actually Columbia is a rather typical example of what used to be places of higher learning.
For Western civilisation to survive, it must rid itself of this internal rot. This is truly a sickness where these people who reap all the benefits of a free society only cheer and admire those who spew vile hatred for the same free society and seek its destruction, yet these same people would refuse to move to the countries of their idols.

When you are assigned to write an academic position paper you are expected to discuss all facets of an issue before coming to a conclusion. Anything less is considered intellectually dishonest. Can the professors of Columbia University then call themselves a community of scholars interested in discovering the truth or are they just interested in appearing to be looking for the truth?

The fact that conservatives are not invited to speak at Columbia answers the question, DML.

"FDI Executive Director Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2006"
So has Rush Limbaugh. But don't expect either to win. The committee has been taken over by Leftoids.

obc, you have "issues". I sent you a PM if you wanna back up your talk..... I wonder why bush the criminal wont have a public debate with the wacko Iranian like he wants? Is he scared to look stupid by the guy who wont shave? What has he got to lose? Chickenshit.

Bush will never debate with Ahmadinejad, because Bush can barley string together a coherent sentence. I'm sure there will be lots of "freedoms" thrown into his sentences though to distract from his idiocracy. Not to mention Ahmadinejad would expoe Bush's idiotic war mongering logic for what it is. Even this website itself has been pushing for the Iraq war since its inception years ago, touting 'freedom and democracy' and all those fancy patriotic words, while covering their eys to realities like oil and no WMD"s. The evidence of the fallacy of right wing neo-con protectionist logic is apparen--they have managed to create more terrorism then ever before, not to mention make the world a much unsafer place to live. Macleans is right, Bush is the new Sadam, and all you Bush supporters are just a bunch of militaristic red gaurd lunatics (just as I had always known).
Posted by: James | 2007-09-23 9:31:07 PM
wow, do you really think Bush is a fool? Amazing that you think a person can attain the political level of President of the USA and be a fool? To be able to gain the support of the Americans, the politicians and the rise through the ranks because he is stupid? Really, the only fool is you...
Secondly, I think these people should be able to speak...and be challenged in an OPEN, and non-censored debate. Just as I think anyone should be...The idea of shutting down debate because you disagree with someone is exactly what the leftist groups do...and it is WRONG. Sick criminals and fanatics need to be challenged publicly and they need to be shown to be the fanatics we all accuse them of being.
Roaches thrive in the dark, just as these fanatics do...we need to bring them in to the light and face the hard and fast questions that will either prove them wrong or right.

I agree Sean:
Encourage these people to speak their mind, no matter how warped it is. Encouragement will allow them to dig the hole deeper and wider and expose them for the demented persons they are.
And speaking of demented persons James, your rant is an exemplification of just how sick the Left has become.

This Ahmadinijad fellow would not worry about truth, most of us realize that and don't take him at his word. We're capable of listening to him spew with that in mind, well most of us.
For people like James it's got to be tough sledding these days. The Oil for food scandal was rife with the politics of the Left, look at some of the people involved in that mess. Even our illustrious Mo Strong had to resign as a UN Envoy over it.

Considering that Ahmadinejad and Bin Ladin's speeches these days mirror the rhetoric coming from most of the far left these days, including the leadership of the party trying to gain the Whitehouse, why should he not speak?
I am far more concerned about the fifth column, the people who actually reside over here and live among us, that mean to tear down the Western democracies from within, than I am about some tinhorn terrorist dictator.
I know what to expect from him, and it is becoming increasing clear what you can expect from the far left.
It is a favorite tactic of these people to spout whatever venom they like, then hide behind the facade of free speech.
I will believe this is nothing but a propaganda ploy if, and only if, this dictator is booed and shouted off stage like Jim Gilchrest, Michel Malkin or any other voice that doesn't parrot the thought process of the far left tries to voice their opinion.
"Free speech" is only allowed at these far left bastions when it suits their agenda.
I think this moron should be allowed to go wherever he wants as well, but he should be offered no security outside the UN.
I think the outcome would be predictable, and satisfying to most.

Columbia won't allow R.O.T.C. on campus because they espouse "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" - a Clinton policy, btw.
But they invite Imanidiot of Iran whose nation executes homosexuals for being homosexuals.
Leftoid logic laid bare for all to see.
Posted by: obc | 2007-09-24 6:32:23 PM
Come one guys let the lunatic speak. Why are we advocating political correctness by advocating censorship. If you watch the full debate, the intro of Ahmadinejad was harsh and direct.
Posted by: merriman | 2007-09-24 7:41:17 PM
James:
Bush may be an idiot, but he was smarter than his opposition in the last election.
Know what? I'm kinda glad Ahmadinejad was given a forum.
At least it gave everybody a chance to laugh at him.
Posted by: set you free | 2007-09-24 9:16:53 PM
Of course it was right to let him speak but the president of the university erred in opposing him up front. Let his ideas be scrutinized in the full academic light of day and then challenge them so that he can be shown for what he is.

DML ~
And their next invitation should be to David Duke and the KKK, just to afford him HIS free speech rights, and to open the floor to discussions about HIS philosophy - right?
Like Columbia ever invites anyone to speak who is not a Leftoid.
Posted by: obc | 2007-09-25 6:20:31 AM
DML: The only problem with your evaluation is that he and the Iranian propaganda machine will only take what they want from the spectacle. His support fro Palis etc.
Columbia just helps his propaganda to the Al jazeera world.
