Giant joint
And while we're talking about marijuana usage (see Patrick's post, below), you've just gotta love the photo that the editors of the Halifax Daily News published today to illustrate a column about pot smoking. It appears that not only does Canada have four times the average marijuana usage but the country also is home to joints that are four times bigger than the world average.

...maybe it's me, but that picture reminds me of the ones they use on cigarette packages of how smoking decreases blood flow to a certain piece of male anatomy.

From the home of the Trailer Park Boys this is just too rich!

The "News" is known as the Daily Snooze in Halifax
and beyond. It is in decline and will not survive
it's current downward spiral. Most regular readers are indeed Trailer Park boys and girls. Their letters and comments to "The Editor" set a standard for profound ignorance. It will not be missed.
Columnists include a former Liberal PMO Flunkey,
a Former Liberal Provincial Cabinet Minister, Former PR Director for the Liberal Party of Canada. Guess what the paper's political perspective is? I'll count to ten. Macleod

I assume you can read without moving your lips, and writing humor is somewhat beyond your very limited capabilities, especially attempting to match the profound humor and journalistic skills of the original Private Eye London UK, where you would be considered just another country bumpkins from Cow Country - if indeed anybody would give a shit.In fact the founders of the Daily Snooze later sold, were the same August British Journalists who founded Frank, I have been reading the snooze the Snooze for about forty and know most of their so called "Journalists" all of whom who will be seeking work soon. But I use their comments opportunities to promote the New Conservative Government and stick it to their regular Liberal and Socialist Horde contributors
-like you mostly profoundly ignorant not their fault though, they are after Country Hicks. Thanks for posting my comments on the Standard site - Jeez you're an asshole> Macleod

Thanks for the kind remarks Jack. Is Cow Country the province of Alberta? If it is I live at least 1600 miles east of there.

David Rodenhiser's bumbly and cliched journalese, to say nothing of the erratic conduct of his argument, is surely a sufficient warning about the consequences of smoking too much pot.

Great photo. Tommy Chong, eat your heart out.

David Rhodenhiser is a real newspaper reporter
and award winning journalist who is a saving grace on a rapidly declining daily newspaper a receptical for cast off Liberal flunkies, none of whom are real reporters nor journalists. Living 1600 miles east precludes you from attending the real Saint Albion's
patron church of the stars and extras, including the
sheep appearing in the non winner "Brokeback Mountain - jeez the sheep should have got an award just for shiting on Alberta grassland. Gays love sheep I understand. Macleod

To continue busting pot head kids is a great way to keep them in Canada and without meaningful employment. These kids are just doing what most kids do, they are going through a smoke a doob phase that will harm no one. They should not be burdened with a criminal record.
They have luxurious drop in centers in Vancouver for the needle druggies. They don't even get convicted for B&E theft that they regularly do to support the habits. It's just a bit hypocritical to convict pot heads.
I don't think it is wise to legalize pot because there is no reliable venue for production and dispensation and the ramification are too crazy to deal. However, simple decriminalization would allow relief on the courts, police and parents.
It will also allow the numerous mom and pop producers to continue to support their families and stay off welfare.
Makes perfect sense to me.
Thoughts?
