Winnipeg: Aboriginal day of Action
While the main stream media completely ignored the historic aspects and the beauty of Canada’s aboriginal day of action to focus on one jackass in Ontario some of Dust my Broom readers didn’t:
Longtime dmb fan Jay Bruneau shared these shots with us - More.

Thanks for that Darcey. I agree 100 % with your comments back at dmb on the importance of dreams. Animosity, whether expressed on certain blogs or at blockades is the stuff that kills dreams. Pride and dignity - as featured in those photos - are the things upon which dreams can be built. Let's hope from today forward we see much less of the former and way more of the latter.

How's that legal action going that you threatened?

Frozen dog-
Working away at it. Note the key word "legal" ( something that prevents nightmares).
Blocking roads and rails is illegal so is contravening the Human Rights Act. You can't deride the one and ignore the other unless you're a scoff law.

It would be nice if the Indians celebrated their "Day of Action" by dancing around in cool-looking warpaint and eagle-feather headresses instead of wearing military camos and blockading roads and rail lines demanding yet more money. They might win more respect from John Q. Canadian.

Nbob,
"Blocking roads and rails is illegal so is contravening the Human Rights Act. You can't deride the one and ignore the other unless you're a scoff law."
I hope you weren't directing this comment to me personally when you say "you can't ..." instead of the generic and larger meaning of "society can't...".
I have offered no opinion either way.
I expect the law to be obeyed and people respected. However, in one case, I agree with the law itself and in the other I don't.
Still, they are the laws but I don't expect either to be fairly or consistently applied.

Yep - generic meaning was intended -should have said "ONE can't" rather than "YOU can't" to be clear that it wasn't personal - appy polly loggies if YOU or anyone else took it that way.

JP -
I think the point of Darcey's post was that thousands did beat the drums in a peaceful and legal manner but a few jerks grabbed all the headlines.
I hope those yahoos come to realize they brought just as much harm to their own cause as they did to VIA passangers. I also hope VIA sues their asses off for 100 million.

If the Indians want to be historical, demanding land back they traded or sold off centuries ago maybe they should go back to living in Tee Pees and wearing the old feathers and buckskin. Riding horses, and shooting bows and arrows, living totally off the land.
Looking back, our Ancestors sold land cheap by today's market, can we get our Ancestral lands back?
No, we live by the laws of the land, a deal is a deal.

I sold my mom's house in Edmonton for $180,000 two years ago.
Today, it's worth at least $350,000, possibly closer to $400,000.
I demand compensation for my loss.

Nbob,
Agreed. BTW, the Religion of Peace has just attacked Glasgow Airport. CBC is utterly silent about this. Scumbags.

JP:
Where are you getting your information that the attack was done by the Religion of Peace?

Skynews reported that 2 "Asian" men have been arrested. Does this mean the RoP is responsible? No, just my intuition. We'll see.

JP:
Fair enough, my man.
I would suspect that's it's part of a worldwide offensive to control the populace through the spread of fear.
And, there is now enough evidence ... the two Mercedez cars in London, a burning SUV heading straight into the Glasgow terminal.
Where are the environmentalists when you need them? Where is the outrage about the total waste of the earth's resources for violent purposes when vehicles are blown up around the world?
Can't expect the enviro-nuts to shed any tears for the loss of innocent human life, of course, since human activity is killing the planet. But not a peep from them about how vehicles keep getting destroyed.
Do not fear. Hope will triumph over fear and the hypocricies will soon be so clear that even Ray Charles will see them.

set you free,
What kills me is that more than two hours after this news broke, CBC Newsworld still hasn't reported it. Now they're running some pretaped business show while it's been commercial-free breaking news on CNN for the past hour or so. I just sent CBC an email demanding they report this NOW. What a bunch of terror-apologizing, Islamo-blowing scumbags they are.

These guys sure work fast, don't they?

Whites Faced Election Bias In Mississippi, Judge Rules
Bloomberg News
Saturday, June 30, 2007; Page A10
JACKSON, Miss., June 29 -- The head of a Mississippi Democratic Party organization illegally suppressed white residents' votes, a federal judge ruled Friday in the first case filed by the Justice Department alleging that whites were subjected to voting discrimination based on their race.
U.S. District Judge Tom S. Lee ruled that Ike Brown, chairman of the Democratic Executive Committee of Noxubee County, violated the Voting Rights Act by issuing different procedures for collecting and counting absentee ballots from white and black voters. The executive committee, also found liable in the case, is responsible for administering Democratic primaries in the county.
There was "ample direct and circumstantial evidence of an intent to discriminate against white voters which has manifested itself through practices designed to deny and/or dilute the voting rights of white voters in Noxubee County," Lee's ruling said.

So OBC, you're saying racism cuts all ways? I would agree and its as sad in all cases.
Posted by: munroe | 2007-06-30 1:49:21 PM
My point was that Republicans have been falsely accused of doing this sort of thing to blacks - with no actual arrests or convictions on this made-up charge.
And here we see "liberal" DemoRats found GUILTY of these same charges. What irony!
Posted by: obc | 2007-06-30 2:27:48 PM
My point is that there are racists in every ethnic group. Believe me, you can include white Republicans in that number. Its sad when you hear black Democrats or aboriginal Greens or Asian New Democrats or Sikh Liberals or chinese Conservatives joining into the chorus. Its equally sad when whites of any political stripe stand guilty.
Posted by: munroe | 2007-06-30 2:41:49 PM
Munroe,
It's "sad" when whites are discriminated against, you say. What words do you use when non-whites are discriminated against?
Just askin'.

"What words do you use when non-whites are discriminated against?"

Like usual, no response from the Left when they are challenged thusly.

obc and water dog:
At least we can learn from their tactics.
The only weapon munroe and his ilk have consistently used (other than name-calling and negative characterization) is to create doubt.
When we show no doubt about the truth of our reasoning, they slither away.
So, the two keys are:
1) Know the truth.
2) Defend it.

You are free to use my tactics. It's called having a life and sleeping.

i believe that living in a white society we are all not treated as we should , even though the government recoginizes that the aboriginal people of north america are in peril,so what if we put up blockades how are we gonna get recognition ,no matter how much we scream and holler they refuse to hear our crys and do something about it ,we cant just go back into the bush its all polluted and thanxs to our government the genocide has lost alot of our traditional foundations so were stuck here in this white society who does not realize that we are all apart of it so if you want us to stop the blockades ,AID US WITH YOUR WORDS OF SUPPORT I DARE YOU CAN YOU DO IT,DO YOU EVEN CARE ?and in this day and age eveythings about money, you need to live , so you need money as simple as that, when you say were always asking for money, its not that were greedy but that we dont get enough to support our people just a dime ,we need to start with our people to utilize our abilities in this free country, to recogonized and respected we need support not just money but from the white community, so we can lift our heads up ,without shame and doubt, but that wetoo can help in makinng this country into a better place for all of us ,not just for one ,meegwitch...
