Adopting a narrow point of view

At the suggestion of Mary Woo Sims, who represents the evil empire in our weekly debates for the Tri-City News, we tackled the subject of "celebrity adoptions" on Mother's Day. Because Sims comes from a human-rights, anti-racism background, I knew right away what her angle would likely be: the supposed hardships endured by adopted children because of alleged cultural dislocation.

As you can see from her column yesterday, I was correct. In my half of the debate, I make the point that I find this type of thinking repugnant. Defining one's identity through the coarse measures of skin colour, sexual organs and the like is limiting, narrow and, in the end, utterly banal. We humans can and should be so much more than what is suggested by our genes and inherited traditions.

You win the argument easily, and I'll bet I'm not the only one who suspects that at least some of these celebrities are adopting kids mainly to make a display of their own virtue.

As a commentator on the Jon Stewart show wondered: what's wrong with adopting American black kids?

She demonstrates the complete intolerance of the warped leftist mind-set while mouthing tolerance.

I have a couple of older friends (both White) who had children and also adopted two racially mixed children (Black and White). No one else wanted them either the Blacks nor the Whites. These children are now well adapted and productive adults who clearly benefited from the love and care they received. They have young families of their own and are passing on the love and moral values they received.

The adopted children, are their spouses black or white or mixed?

"Sensible folk know that what’s truly important is not the colour of one’s skin or the cultural background of one’s grandparents but the values we hold and the deeds we do."

Sensible folk? You mean white liberal hypocrites. Cultural has nothing to do with genetics then.

"Black infants adopted into middle-class white families end up with IQs lower than the white average."

A difference even loving parents cannot overcome. Low IQ correlates strongly with more marital breakdown, and higher levels of violence and illegitimacy, to name a few.

"These racial patterns make up what is called a "life-history" or "reproductive strategy." The traits evolved together to meet the trials of life-survival, growth, and reproduction.

...evolution selected for larger brains, slower growth rates, greater longevity, lower hormone levels, less sexual potency, less aggression, and less impulsivity. Advanced planning, self-control, and rule-following are cultural manifestations of these gene-based evolutionary strategies."

Random, unattributed quotes are less than useless.

If you have a point to make, spit it out, back it up with rational thought and perhaps, some attributed quotes.

(random stats ....also no good)

Oh, oh...One more vestige of the grand Multi-Cult...the random quote police. :)

DJ,

You saying you have ED?

"...evolution selected for larger brains, slower growth rates, greater longevity, lower hormone levels, less sexual potency...."

Sounds like you are reaching out for help? Perhaps some of the men folk here can point you in the right direction?

"...less aggression, and less impulsivity."

So, does this mean you have finally found an excuse for your lack of creativity?

"Advanced planning,..."

So, you say only white folks can plan? (saying "Advanced" with "planning" is redundant.)

"...self-control, and rule-following are cultural manifestations of these gene-based evolutionary strategies."

You ignore the facts. Studies on race and education and function shows no difference between races when people have been raised in the same socio-economic situations. So, black children raised with love, security and sufficient resources, and access a good education, perform as well in life, as white children, with the same.

White children raised with no love, no resources and no education do as poorly as do black children, raised with the same. Sure, you can always find those who are able to break out--yet that goes equally for both white skinned people and black skinned people.
