Dog day Afternoon
Maybe what I should do, he thinks, is stand up in the House, say I'm going to apologize, mouth the words, and say the apology was in a high-pitched frequency that only Ms. Stronach can hear.

Remember when Deborah Grey was speaking in the House of Commons and some liberal (cant remember who) was yelling pork. Did the media make such a fuss about this as they have over Brenda?? Did they say at the time that it was an insult to all canadian women? Somehow I doubt it.

I very much doubt it. Check this article from CTV on blogs defending MacKay.. its a beauty:

First off, Pete should enter the Green Chamber with a seeing eye dog and a cane. He should have his coat pockets holed and stuffed with milk bones so that he leaves a trail of them a la Jean Chretien and his golf balls.
In his apology he should say:
As dogs are traditionally known as Man's best friend, and this Parliament is an institution steeped in tradition, I will issue the traditional apology which has become pro forma according to Liberal practice.
If I said any thing which can be construed as offending anyone for any reason, I am sorry that they took offense.
Thank you and Bow Wow.

Didn't Belinda trade for Tie for this exact situation. Politics is a blood sport so she searched out a goon left hanging as a result of the new NHL. So come on Belinda, let Tie loose. Sit him down and tell him what was said. Then explain to him it's not funny. Tell him to stop giggling, wipe the smerk off, and act serious. This is suppose to outrage him also, you say. Give it a minute, let it sink in. Then tell him to jump the boards and dance. While that's sinking in, start flirting with that left handed rightwinger that just became a free agent. Before that new Green team does. Playoffs just around the corner.

It wouldn't be a secret, too may of them can hear a dog whistle.

It all boils down to the fact that there is nothing to steal where these stinking lieberals are and they can't take it! They will do and try anything to regain power where the money taps are, that is all they know. This whole outrage is no different than the usual muslim outrage spurred on by the pathetic media losers and their ilk. Poor little rich girl can't stand the heat well she should stay out of the bedroom then shouldn't she. Her children must be so embarrassed to watch her whorein around.

I don't know who said what but I will not be a hypocrite.
Whoever said it, if they did, should apologize without reservation. And no using "they do it too defense".
Truewest,
If you are reading...that's how it works. Sorry you aren't up to it.
It's a given that the MSM is biased and hypocritical. I won't join them.

MP romance, floor crossing, recieving compensation for a vote, self-righteous demagogery, multiple leadership bids, membership-fudging, ghost-writing, adultery leading to divorce, shrill hectoring, outrage (feigned or otherwise) over parliament cut & thrust
Is it me or does it seem that when something degrading happens in parliament-land, Stronach has a better than average chance of being in the middle of it?

Not a C**t but certainly a home-wrecker.
I've been called all manor of things at work and have never demanded an apology, because I am not a thin-skinned pussy.
So to date: Belinda is a home-wrecking, thin-skinned pussy flip-floper.
Perfect candidate for the Liberals. I am amazed she is not their fearless leader.

The secret caller who exposed Adscam
Globe and Mail, Canada - 2 hours ago
OTTAWA -- The phone call came on June 1, 2000. The woman had a quiet voice, and she wanted our conversation, and her identity, to remain a secret. ...-
Librano$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Daniel Leblanc, scooped Ad$cam.
Liberal Party ran kickback scheme.
Taxpayers' $$$$$$$$$$ flowed to Liberals, their friends, ad agencies, etc.
Guite, Gagliano, Chretien, Corriveau, RCMP, etc. exposed.
The Liberal Party must be investigated; criminal charges must be brought forth.
Citizens of Canada: you must take charge of this investigation.
AdScam Chretien/Martin must answer to the citizens/taxpayers of Canada.
"She said a number of advertising firms were overcharging the federal government for their role in the program, and kicking back funds to the Liberal Party of Canada." $$$$$$$
Here is one of Daniel Leblanc's original exposes from June 08, 2002:
Phantom sport show cost Ottawa $333,000
DANIEL LEBLANC
The Globe and Mail, June 8, 2002
Ottawa — The federal government spent $333,000 to sponsor a hunting-and-fishing show in Quebec City that never happened, The Globe and Mail has learned.
The revelation is the latest in a string of blunders that have embarrassed the Chrétien government and brought allegations of corruption in its dealings with Liberal-friendly firms.
Federal documents show the government specifically funded the Salon du Grand Air in Quebec City in the 1999-2000 fiscal year; the goal was to put up federal advertising at the event to promote the Canadian government to the show's visitors. $$$$$$

I just wish THAT "WOMAN" would get the hell out of politics and try her hand at entertaining, buddy up with Paris Hilton and get the attention her lifestyle seems to attract.
As a woman, Peter McKay need not apologize to me.
Calling someone a dog is a compliment in many cases. They are wonderful, smart and loyal companions, more than you can say in this case.

How farcical and hypocritical of the members of parliment whose track record of acting like cats and dogs, not deserving of much if any respect to all of a sudden over some trivial matter which dosen't deserve any attention becomes an all consumming passion to bring the house to standstill.
'What dire offense from amorous causes springs,
What mighty contests rise from trivial things'

Too damn funny!!!
Mark Logan...
What are you 12 years old? Granted Belinda is a dumbass. I listened to Adler and Green tear her apart a few weeks ago, it was hilarious.
Your juvenile rant is more demeaning to you than anything else...makes you a dumbass also!!!

For such stupid behaviour by our parliament, I propose a fine for all the culprits.
For all libranos, a $10 000. fine to each MP.
For Peter, a $500. fine.
For Belinda, send her a dog as a gift. And require from her not to break any marriage for 2 years subject to review after 2 years, depending on her behaviour.
Posted by: Rémi Houle | 2006-10-21 9:16:12 AM
This proves that Belinda was right! She complained about a double standard when the spotlight shone upon her regarding her affair with the married Tie Domi. "No man would be put through such scrutiny". Well if someone would have implied that a male MP were a dog (or a lot worse) I doubt that there would be mention made of it. Yes Belinda, there is a double standard. You use it to your advantage whenever possible.
Posted by: Bernie | 2006-10-21 9:16:52 AM
For someone who claims to not like the spotlight, Belinda sure seems to be seeking it.
When will she be in the news because she's actually done something political, for the good of Canadian women (as she says)....I know I know....never....
If she thinks that Peter MacKay needs to apologize to her, on behalf of Canadian women in politics, she needs to be reminded that she's in a category all of her own making....the other women in politics today aren't doing the dumb-ass moves she is making.
And....is she asking her buddy Bill Clinton to apologize to all women working in the White House, etc....well, all women everywhere....for demeaning them by playing around in the Oval Office bathroom....rug....desk...wherever....
How can she be friends with Bill Clinton when he demeaned politics sooooo much by his little fling with Monica???
Yes, there's a double standard....Belinda is part of the problem....no, maybe Belinda "is" the problem.
Get out of politics, Belinda. The people in your constituency deserve someone better.

As a grandmother I have a warning for my granddaughters.
Girls you will soon become teenagers...grandma has high hopes for you.
If you choose to become a politician, do so with integrity.
Be honest with your constituents.
Work hard...don't expect ANY handouts...YOU have to earn it.
Have morals...do NOT become the other woman in a divorce case.
In other words girls...
Do NOT become a Belinda Stronach.

Wonder what Garth! would give up to go with the Greenies? He would have to set an example if he becomes a true believer in their ideology and preaches it. Saving the planet is their raison d'etre. Couldn't be caught driving a gas guzzler.
Do you suppose Garth! would take public transit, pedal his ass around Toronto on a bike?
Doubt the Liberals would put up with Garth! either. They would not be able to play him like they can people like Belinda, suckered into linking McKay's ALLEGED comment to women in general.
"Greenies" is not a very nice moniker, it's original meaning is "snot" isn't it?
Posted by: Liz J | 2006-10-21 11:16:17 AM
Bernie, they are all worse than dogs, They act like jackasses and 'neigh' most of the time. To regard this as a double standeard is a stupid thing to say. They all act like dogs regardless of gender, may as well call it like it is.
Posted by: Frico | 2006-10-21 11:18:33 AM
Right off the bat MacKay's judgement is questionable...I mean who would call a common political prostitute a "dog"...it's an insult to dogs and will tank the doggie lover's voting block ;-)
Posted by: Wlyonmackenzie | 2006-10-21 11:18:37 AM
last words on this subject by all, especially the politicians should be; "meow and bow wow" or maybe "neigh" !

I can think of 4 reasons not to apologize:
1) She's a white person from Ontario. What have they ever done for us?
2) She's a Liberal. Same reason.
3) Her old man is a personal friend of Jorg Haider, a known neo-Nazi. Given Ontarians' contempt for veterans and the sacrifices made to put down the Nazis, no one should expect us to knuckle under. These people urinate on war memorials, for goodness sake!
4) She's a rich billionaire. If anything she should be apologizing to us.

i think mckay is disgusting. im a dog lover and to compare stronach to a dog brings tears to my eyes. im going to push my local spca to lodge a protest and seek financial compensation for me because of my weakend condition and the mental trauma this has given to petdom. maybe i will see if i can send jack layton to talk to dogs of our nation

Interesting how the Libs twisted this into an attack on WOMEN. Now the media lib DOGS have that bone to knaw away at... Once again the Liberals demonstrate they are the masters of DECEPTION and the media are their trumpeters.
Anyone with half an open mind, recognises that the dog comment didn't have anything to do with her sex, but rather her CHARACTER or lack of

Zeb,
Actually, I feel she has far more to apologize for than any word, whether utterred or imagined by her, may or may not have been said.
Let me see. How many people would rather be called an animal or have their whole heart broken. When she displayed the fact that she could walk all over someone's heart like that, as she did to Peter, and do nothing to prepare them or apologize to them for being so utterrly mean, I for one lost total respect for her. Not for her gender, might I add, but for her. Just because Peter has the responsibility as an elected official, as he does, does not mean he does not have a human heart. It also does not mean that he should be able to weather all manner of bad treatment. The thing that I like about Peter, is that he is so sweet. He has such excellence of heart. Just because she, perhaps, was treated badly before they met, did not make it right for her to be as she was. And in many ways, she behaved as one without morals of the heart.
Although it is easy for a person to get upset when people use words that are unkind and ungentleman and unladylike, as there are standards, she lost her lady standards when she betrayed what most people call the most important relationship in their lives, those who occupy the place of intimacy. Although no one who is elected should put up with abuse of any kind, she should never expect that her heart would not have the same leather exterior, as the one she had so willfully broken. To expect that he would feel nothing, at her intimate betrayal, let alone the betrayal of the party, while she would feel outrage over a three letter words, is the most rediculous double standard in politics today. And just like the Libranos, to attempt to gain politically, from it.

In today's National Post:
Peter McKay doesn't hate women.
He hates Belinda Stronach.

Anyone who has nothing better to do, like the Liberals and the Dipsticks, than worry about what may or may not have been said, should check Hansard.
Go back to their hero Trudeau. They'll be surprised to find more than "fuddle Duddle", he had some real gems. But hey, that's ok, he was a Liberal.
It's a Silly Beggar's paradise in the House of Uncommon Sense these dark days of a
Autumn. Not enough sun to operate their brains.
If that's the best they have to offer us for our money they can get the hell out of politics and that includes Belinda Stronach and all her peccadillos.
Posted by: Liz J | 2006-10-23 11:33:34 AM
Liz,
Fuddie-duddie himself made more westerners say bad words, than you or I could shake a stick at.
And the worst word of all, has three letters in it's acronym.
NEP!
And now, after all this time, they have the audacity of getting their knickers in a twist, both men and women's might I add (no point in being sexist here, as some of their men do indeed wear knickers) over what they claim is a meantion of the word "dog", thinking that this leftist cause, though they are completely unable to substantiate it, is something that would impress us and bolster their wainging political situation.
I say, "dog" is not actually what comes to mind, when we think about NEP!
And no amount of smoke will hide the reality of the negative fires that they have permitted to politically sweep throughout this great nation of ours. While they slept in the leadership position, and signed us onto bad notions, one after the other, and permitted our economy to wain so badly that families could no longer afford to live off of the average income, making the second generation into something only the rich could afford, we remembered NEP, and we built a case with all the other NEPish ideas and things they failed to do and implement, one after the other. And with each NEP, the lost thousands of votes. So, although they can utter the word "dog" and think they might get a couple votes here and there, both men and women will hang the posters out with all their NEPishness, for everyone one to see.
I says it as I sees it!
NEP!
NEP!
NEP!
