Canadian troops continue to fight terrorists

We shouldn't forget or ignore the sacrifices that the Canadian troops are making in Afghanistan to secure the world and preserve our freedoms. Unfortunately, two more brave soldiers lost their lives while eight more were wounded according to CTV.

I think it is indeed appropriate to quote Prime Minister Harper on this tragic incident:

Iran: Israel doomed to 'destruction'
ASSOCIATED PRESS - July 23, 2006

Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared Sunday that Israel had "pushed the button of its own destruction" by launching its military campaign against the Iranian-backed Hizbullah militia in Lebanon.

Ahmadinejad didn't elaborate, but suggested Islamic nations and others could somehow isolate Israel and its main backers led by the United States. On Saturday, the chairman of Iran's armed forced joint chiefs, Maj.-Gen. Sayyed Hassan Firuzabadi, said Iran would never join the current Middle East fighting.

Ahmadinejad's latest salvo against Israel came as the 12-day-old hostilities in Lebanon continued. The hard-line president drew international condemnation last year after publicly calling for Israel to be wiped out and calling the Holocaust a "myth."

Iran helped create the anti-Israel Hizbullah movement in the early 1980s and is among its main supplier of arms and funds. But Teheran has denied Israeli claims it is sent Hizbullah long-range missiles that have reached Haifa and other points in northern Israel since the battles broke out nearly two weeks ago following a cross-border Hizbullah raid that captured two Israeli soldiers.

"Britain and the United States are accomplices of the Zionist regime in its crimes in Lebanon and Palestine," said Ahmadinejad.

He said "the people of the region will respond" unless Israel and its allies apologize for their policies.

"Arrogant powers have set up a base for themselves to threaten and plunder nations in the region," said Ahmadinejad. "But today, the occupier regime (Israel) - whose philosophy is based on threats, massacre and invasion - has reached its finishing line."

Last week, Ahmadinejad sent a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel that contained statements about Israel and the Holocaust that are "not acceptable," said German officials.

Germany has sharply criticized Ahmadinejad's anti-Israel statements.

In Teheran, the government has sanctioned billboards showing Hizbullah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah and a message that it is the duty of Muslims to "wipe out" Israel. Officials also organized a demonstration in the southern city of Shiraz by Iran's small Jewish community calling for Israel's destruction and praising Hizbullah.

This is going to grow into a major political issue, our soldiers are in a dirty war fighting a fanatical enemy and casualties are not anomalous, there's going to be a steady flow of dead Canadian soldiers for as long as the deployment lasts. The left is a loud and powerful presence in Canadian politics and they seem to have forgotten the extreme horror of the Taliban regime. Remember the left's internet petition to do something about the Taliban?

AGWN's blog is scrutinizing a Rabble thread and, in it, the Rabble moderator posts, "people who are happy to send our troops over to other countries to conquer and kill people". The Taliban now has the left's sympathy - Taliban as victims!

I do hope the same thing that's happening in Iraq is happening in Afghanistan: massive recruitment, training and equipping of locals who will be fast-tracked into policing their own country. We've got to get out of there as soon as we can, if the locals can't successfully take up the load with all the military and technical aid that the west can surely offer them then it wasn't meant to be, the place may be a write-off. The Taliban has infinite sources of cannon fodder churning out of Madrasi hate schools and perpetually gathering just across the border in untouchable Pakistan.

why is there not a poll done in canada on whether canadians and broken down as born in canada for several generations, immigrants, first generation children of immigrant, non- muslim or muslim---one question of many

should canada stop all further muslim immigration to canadas?

other questions on peoples opinion of muslims birth rates both here and abroad as compared to our fight to keep abortion legal here.

should sharia ever to be allowed in canada?

Woodbridge: first, only Liebrals in Toronto and Montreal are considered 'real' Canadians, so any attempt at a poll would be automatically biased. Even if one were taken of westerners, the easterners would make the same claim. Therefore it won't happen.

Second, under NO circumstances should Shiara law be allowed in Canada. Pure and simple. If they don't like it, tough. Even Liebral Ontario, notorious for its bending over backwards for the ethnic vote, saw the danger of shiara law.

Third, I don't think Muslim immigration can be stopped so long as Ontario's white population is in decline. They need non-white workers to fill in the gaps and ensure a "mudsill" (as South Carolina Senator James H. Hammond put it in 1858) that elevates whites above a certain level regardless of class. The declining white population means more immigrants are needed, and the demand is so high that they can't be too choosy about who comes. Therefore, Muslims will be allowed in regardless of the risk. This is unlikely to change unless Muslim terrorists strike.

Anon, NATO forces control only the immediate area around Kandahar.

Afghanistan is still run largely by warlords in their little tribal kingdoms their ancestors have carved out for them.

Although Afghanistan is thought of as a country by westerners, it is nothing of the kind. It is not a unified state under one government.

It's chief crop and export is still opium.

There really is no Afghan 'army', rather their are Afghan forces with units from varied tribes and questionable allegiance.

These Afghan forces may or may not have the erradication of the Taliban in common, but they do not have a common vision of a United Afghanistan under a federal government.

Few months ago, I asked (sarcastically) an Iranian person where they were in their plan to wipe Israel off the map. She replied, "we're getting there..." Was she serious? Can't discount it...
Of course another colleague defended Ahmadinejad's statement by saying that the world makes a big thing out of it because it is Israel, and had the threat been made against, say, Cuba, nobody would have batted an eyelash. Never mind that the threat is unacceptable regardless against who it is made. How did a blogger put it a couple of weeks back? Forking iceholes...

The Afghan war will go on until either their safe havens in Pakistan are destroyed or the death toll of western soldiers makes continued fighting politically untenable.

Viet Nam was lost because the Vietcong terrorists had safe havens in North Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia. Viet Nam was even MORE winnable because the pool of potential soldiers fighting against the U.S. was largely limited to Vietnamese and the communist insurgents weren't drawn from all over the globe.

Islam has a much larger pool to recruit from and Muslims define politically unacceptable combat loses much diferently than our citizens and politians do.
