Angels Deployed!
For the past few weeks I have been putting together a rather important project - one I hope you'll join me in.As you may or may not know, I am a member of Soldiers Angels in the United States. I am currently on my second "deployment", as my first charge returned home safely before Christmas. For a couple of years now I have looked for a similar program which serves Canadian soldiers, and I have found nothing. I pitched the idea to the military, but got a very unenthusiastic response. So I decided to build one myself.
Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you Canadian Angels.
For the time being, this is a one-woman operation, but I know that will change within hours of this announcement. I am also planning to register it as a non-profit, and I have been in touch with the accountant. Please click on the picture above, and see what it's all about.
The main thing I need right now is help spreading the word to the Armed Forces. Due to the military's lack of interest, I can't quite figure a way to get the news out to those deployed (or to those about to be). Any assistance you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
I believe I shall have plenty of volunteer Angels, as I receive at least a dozen emails a week asking me if such a program exists for Canadian soldiers. For the first time I can say yes.

RightGirl - Advertizing evidently works, whether it is expensive or "free."
America has "Talk Radio" programs and entire radio channels/stations devoted to issues as are discussed on this web site blog. The reason that I speak so tentatively about this is the various recent threads which have popped up on this blog from many months and years past which discuss the incredible censorship which evidently you folks experience in your media.
Anyway, get hold of a Talk Radio program host and discuss your project "On The Air."
I could easily recommend a show for you to call in America, which has this kind of thing going in spades, like drinking water from a fire hose.
You certainly should easily develop an entirely Canadian project, but honestly, as I read here, I recognize that you have a very different culture.
For example, I understand that your government has somehow blocked FOX News TV programming in Canada. I think of FOX News as largely to mostly just typical Left Wing blather, and with one or two nearly useless Conservative shouting match programs, which can quickly become just a drag to watch.
I pray for you folks, mainly selfishly, because we really don't need Communists on our borders. It's all we can do to handle the ones holding elective office in the Democrat Party (and the spineless phony ones effectively in control of the Republican Party).

Yes, they ALMOST block Fox, but lost the battle. But we have to pay a lot to get it via digital or sattelite. I was thinking of getting on the radio.
Anyone? Hello? Is this thing on?? :)

RightGirl:
Had a couple of young guys come up to my door the other day.
They were selling high-speed cable for Telus.
Lo and behold, FOX news was available.
“My dad loves it,'' said one of the guys.
“Sounds like an intelligent guy,'' I told them.
Of course, in the basic band, we would still be forced by the CRTC to watch French programming.
Parlez vous piss off?

RightGirl - I was interested in how this was going to play out.
I recall that Ronald Reagan spent some perhaps ten or twelve years driving around California campaigning to become Governor (obviously, before he became President). One of his stellar moments was when Barry Goldwater got Reagan the spotlight at the Republican National Convention in I guess 1963 or 1964, in which Reagan "introduced" Goldwater to the convention for selection as Republican candidate for President ("....Moderation in ______ ? of _____ ? is no Virtue; Extreemism in defense of Liberty is no Vice!"). Reagan was fabulous for that moment, as well as for every other moment of the YEARS when he was driving from little town gymnasium to little town meeting hall...).
Long long long road to great achievement.
You have big government in Canada. "Let the government take care of it." That HAS to be the thinking of "everybody" with respect to soldiers who are injured and soldiers' families which are killed.
It is easier to have good ideas than it is to bring them to fruition.
You know every thought that I've ever had. I probably agree with you on everything (political) and so I can't tell you anything. But, I know that if we didn't have Ronald Reagan we would probably be as screwed up with big(ger) government than you are suffering right now.
You folks have to take every one of your big ideas and every bit of absolute perfect truth which you possess and never let go. Kick ALL of those horrible rotten Communist evil big government people to Hell out of your country, today! BUT not here! Don't send them here or we'll hire a bunch of armed illegal Mexicans to shoot them as they cross the border.

LOL Conrad! Frankly, I think lots of us would be OK with the armed illegal Mexican solution.

Right you are. I'm not forced to watch it ... I'm just forced to pay for it whether I watch it or not.
Conrad:
Don't worry. Our commies will only move to Washington State, Oregon and the New England states.
You're safe in Mexifornia.
