Saturday Night Blues
Apologies to all who I left with a down link the other day. My site server blew a hard drive and I spent the last day and a half redoing the databases. To make it up to you, a regular feature at the Broom is the weekend blues fest (well of course). It's all on me.

... He does not endorse the cartoons, but backs the right to publish them, as Calgary-based Western Standard magazine did in February.
So do many others

Speeking of freedom of sppeech, appicable to all persons. Many liberal persons still do think that militant Islam is just another religion that can be tamed by our tolerant indifference to other belief systems. They are wrong. Islam is a religion of more than one billion believers and its adherents who do not. note do nto show a spectrum of attitudes similar to the one we see in denominational Christianity. No governments from predominantly Christina, or Catholic countries have now incited their too often muderous populations to take to the streets in protest to supposed abuse of their relgion. and mayhem. In Islam, we find mostly do anatic convinced believers bent on missionary outreach, many of whom resort to shocking acts, bad rhetoric and stir controversy to proselytize. We’ve already witnessed raging mobs in Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Lebanon engaging in deadly or destructive behavior in order to defend the honor of their prophet and religion. Why does he need so much defence, is his honour cealry still it not obvious. "The key issue at stake in the battle over the twelve Danish cartoons of the Muslim prophet Muhammad is this: will the West stand up for its customs and mores, including freedom of speech, or will Muslims impose their way of life on the West? ..." "More specifically, will Westerners accede to a double standard by which Muslims are free to insult Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism, while Muhammad, Islam, and Muslims enjoy an immunity from insults? Muslims routinely publish cartoons far more offensive than the Danish ones; are they entitled to dish it out while being insulated from similar indignities?..." "The deeper issue here, however, is not just Muslim hypocrisy but Islamic supremacism. The Danish editor who published the cartoons, Flemming Rose, explained that if Muslims insist "that I, as a non-Muslim, should submit to their taboos ... they're asking for my submission."..." Muslims must tone down the fanatiscims of their own religion; otherwise, we will find all of us in the throws of a total world war next for real.

Message to conservatives: Friday night, and/or Saturday night, is blues and beer night. Get used to it. On nights such as these, Buddy Guy trumps Milton Friedman.

And you do realize, of course, that Milton, in his younger days, played a wicked lead guitar.
