Congrats from south of the 49th
Well, you folks can stop mourning the performance of your Olympic hockey team.
World Baseball Classic: Canada 8, United States 6.
I warmly congratualte the Great White North for pasting us (Canada once led 8-0) and then hanging on to win (especially center fielder Adam Stern, who probably saved the game and certainly erased a game-tying double by Chad Utley).

I bet if the US regularly played against Cuba they'd get pasted too.
When I was a kid I used to wonder why the Americans called their big baseball playoff 'The World Series' when they only let American teams play. Then I went to an American book vendor's booth at a fair and he was selling a book called 'World Travel' which was only about travelling inside the USA.

Well, the win is big. Its huge. It means nothing if we lose 3-2 to Mexico tomorrow.
I do a more complete roundout of the game here:

It is simply not possible, preacher-man, for Speller to be pissing off everyone, because he is not pissing off me. Ergo, you are wrong again.

Better to be pissed off than pissed on, or perhaps in your case, not.
The boys played awesome, great to see so many "northern" dudes doing so well in this sport. It is a great venue they have came up with, I'm sure it will catch on quickly.

Better to be pissed than pissed on or off.

Good for the canucks, but I agree that it could be short lived...don't think we'll see a baseball equivalent to the U.S. hockey teams 1980 'Miracle on Ice'.

Can't argue with that! ;>)

Let me put it like this, I will accept their congratulations as long as they promise not to make it a best of seven!
