Liberals to move research facility from NDP riding to Liberal riding; majority of staff to quit

An email from a person inside the CANMET-MTL research lab reveals that the Liberals are moving the facility out of Ed Broadbent's Ottawa Centre riding to Tony Valeri's riding in Hamilton.  Not too many people are happy -- my source tells me that the majority of the 100 highly skilled researchers affected won't be moving, destroying that pool of experience as the government is forced to re-staff the facility.

Among the reasons given:

The move to Hamilton will facilitate collaboration with university researchers through the existing Academic User Access Facility arrangement, as well as with international partners in China, India and the United States.

Well, if it makes China happy, then by all means.

[Updates added -- more information from inside the lab]

» McMaster getting attention on the Blogosphere from Joey Coleman's Blog
Today it was announced that McMaster would be the new location of CANMET-MTL which is currently located in Ottawa. While, it has the attention of right-wing blogs that I read. I find the information presented in these blogs to be... [Read More]

Any Canada-China commerce or direct government intervened corporate smoozing is a Moe Strong facilitated PMO policy.

Dither's mentor Strong is an honerary Chi-Com corporate elite.

Watch for more federal funded China giveaways in the Martin air miles reward plan.

Headline is wrong.
The riding is Hamilton Centre which is an NDP riding.
It is held by:
David Christopherson

Yes, it is Moe Strong secretly pulling the strings behind all the Canada-China commerce, including all Chinese interest in the Alberta oilpatch... and all the billions of dollars in trade between China and the US, and the free trade negotiations between China and "sensible right-wing" Australia are all a clever Cartel machination as well! Long live Emperor Moe and Pope Paul Desmarais I! World domination is here at last!

The foolishness of the rural peanut gallery never ceases to amaze me. Commerce with the PRC isn't some Liberal idea, it's the policy of corporate-influenced governments throughout the industrialized world, across the political spectrum. It will continue so long as big business gets a say in political policy (or until the PRC is dumb enough to provoke a shooting war). Now I suppose that a new government might marginalize the influence of big business, but I didn't think the general sentiment of the Popgun was to support the NDP...

I used to think that tinfoil hats were silly but innocuous headgear, but now I'm starting to wonder if there's some sort of chemical leaching into your scalps that impairs brain function. That, or the tinfoil hats are on too tight. Either way, good luck!
