Phew. That was close.

Headline in today's Post: "Tories Defuse Crisis."

OTTAWA - Conservative leader Stephen Harper will attempt to change a key budget bill [which includes a Kyoto carbon tax] in committee, rather than force an election by voting against it in the House of Commons . . .

Brilliant. If Harper keeps "defusing" crises like this, Martin just might want to give the guy a cabinet seat,

It is right for the opposition to work with the government in good faith and not to score debating points.

On the other hand, if the government can't even work productively with a responsible opposition like that, it is a truly incompetent government.
