How to handle hecklers

One of the tactics of the left, especially on campuses, is to heckle (or riot) when conservatives come to campus to talk.

But listen to Ann Coulter dispatch the rent-a-mob crowd that came to meet her the other day at a Kansas college. I love it: if it comes down to brute force, which is what these rent-a-mobs are about, I'd bet on some College Republicans in a dust-up with some vegetarian, gun-controlled pacificts, too.

Ann Coulter's answer was to find some big goons in the Republican Party and go and "thrash" anyone that did not agree with her perverse views of the Universe.

Very smart lady, read all here books, she handles situations extremely well. We need here in the Parliment to keep order and sensibility.

It sounds like the hecklers at this occasion were given the chance to ask their question. When they chose to only run interference on the speaker, they made the choice to be treated like the idiots who run out on the field in sporting events. They bring to mind the guys who attacked the base coach a few years ago in MLB and brought the wrath of a team full of steroid pumped players down on them. They got pummelled. Nobody in the media rushed to their defense and said the players should not have infringed upon the rights of these goonies to whack the base coach and disturb the game. They got what they deserved. And so did these hecklers. . . wait, I take it back, they should have got worse then the "bum's rush". Maybe, some of the "republican guard" inadvertently dropped them on the way out. That would have been appropriate.

I wager that most conservative posters would agree that how we feel about these hecklers has nothing to do with who the speaker was. As my mother would say it's simply a matter of decent human behaviour and manners.

Jack,

Don't let the ACLU here you say "matter of decent human behaviour and manners." you could be in the severe dog house for that. If it wasn't for people like Ann C the criminals and lefties would control all your thoughts and actions...

She's considered load and obnoxious by those who don't listen to here words, and really nows American history well.

Ezra-
The only paid heckler I know of is your pal, and former co-defendant, Rob Anders M.P. .

Just curious, have the presentations of the likes of, say, Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore or Naomi Lewis/Avi Klein ever been interrupted by conservative hecklers? Something to bear in mind the next time the "progressives" are on about "free speech".

I bet she is considered "load" and obnoxious by those "ho" don't "lissin" to "here" WORD and really "nows" her "Markcan" "hisstry", and how "Xmas" came to pass that "nite" "4" people "ho" "nos" "bout" "freedumb".

Thank you for proving my point that "neocons" are illiterate rednecks.

I was one of the members of the audience... the hecklers were a small group of anarchist-looking types (as you can see in the video of one being removed from the other side of my row).

http://www.6newslawrence.com/stories/2005/mar/29/coulter/

As for the genius who equated all liberals with vegetarian, gun-controlled pacifists... you should have been there. Guess who stopped the jackbooted CR thugs from actually removing the hecklers? Me, for one. Told the six of them at the end of my row would have to come through me, they stopped short and never advanced another step. When the legitimate authorities (police and security) came, we stepped aside and let them remove the hecklers. Shows who has respect for law and order, eh? Nice of you to categorize all liberals by the actions of some-- might I now categorize all conservatives by the actions of the CRs who circumvented legitimate authority and attempted to use physical violence to silence people they felt were being rude?

Finally, if Noam Chomsky resorted to calling conservatives the kind of belittling, petty names that Coulter dishes out incessantly, while making a false caricature of conservative positions-- yes, he would probably get shouted at by the conservatives in the audience, and rightfully so.

Apologies to Kate for the typo’s. As for Joe, some of us work 12-15 hours a day and can only do this on the fly to support people like you who do nothing, complain, and sponge of the system. Kind of obvious when your posting all day long.....must be the moonbat way.

Joe, you say
"thrash" anyone that did not agree with her perverse views of the Universe". Kate has an article posted on "caning" you should read. You're naughtier than I thought. wahoo

So Noam can defend Pol Pot and other murderous butchers (a category he himself reserves for democratically elected western leaders), but he doesn't deserve shouting down until he belittles someone and refers to them by a petty name? Thanks for the revealing glimpse into the atheist mindset. Sure is a good thing you peace-loving, free-speech embracing "progressives" never resort to physical violence to silence people like, say, heaving pies or salad dressing at 'em.

I wrote: apparently Ayn Rand, GE Capital, Miltie Freedman, 1900 or so librarians(?), Nate Brandon, Ms. Valery, Mammon(??) and 200,000 3th columnists who reside in Calgary - all give a shit apparently - Happy thoughts to you - bye bye.

If you read my blog, I posted just today yelling at those actions. I do not defend or condone them. I do not think it would be appropriate to shout anything at Chomsky, either, *even* if he was yelling belittling insults at the crowd- disagreeing with the context of what he says is another matter entirely. I know you think anyone who questions the highschool-history view of Manifest Destiny that you cherish is "un-American" but I maintain that everyone has the right to free speech: even the beloved Christian pastor, one Reverend Fred Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church, Topeka. I get to see him and his congregation once a month or so as he protests outside my office window.

We do and did not silence Ann, I do not understand why you refuse to even try to see that... you just want to hate us so badly. SOME people there did, and I shouted for them to stop it, and in the end convinced them to stop, because I cannot justify censorship. Do not assume you know how I think because you've built up a strawman of a liberal in your mind.
