Need any wood?

"Canada could use a few more guys like Trudeau."

That's the Young People Today type columnist from one of Toronto's free "subway" papers, Metro. I think I had a brief email run in with this guy a while back, re: some (yawn!) "Bush is a moron" comment; ("And your MBA comes from which Ivy League college exactly, Chris...?") His reply, while courteous, tried to get me to believe that he was "just referencing other people who think Bush is stupid". Guess Chris took media training with Mohamad Elmasry...

So as I have enough "off with their heads" work to do at my own blog, I thought it might be fun to pass this along to any of you (Kate) who might like to, you know, see what Young People Today are thinking and perhaps offer them some feedback.

I will make a rare plea for mercy on behalf of one so weak: those of you who've still got your Question Authority button somewhere, and/or a vinyl copy of Sandanista lying about -- remember that we were once handsome and tall as he, and keep our sticks on the ice.

Heh. Chris is a colleague - I'm just off in a minute to meet him to do a shoot for a story he's writing.

And he is young. I try to talk to him about this every day, but youth is stubborn, and age an abstraction. What can I say - I remain the sole out conservative in my office. I make my cases and speak out against what sounds like rubbish. Time will vindicate me, I think.

Until then, you know what it's like to try and counter decades of propaganda on yr own - it's an uphill battle, Kathy.

It's apt that the Trudeau vote is in the context of a cheap knockoff of similarly tawdry Amerucan and British pop contests. Trudeau the poseur was himself an unimaginative appropriater of stale ideas. His Frantz Fanon fetish is evident from his writings published before The Great Man took on his Liberal political mantle.

He'll probably grow up to be the head of the Conservative Party! Hey, at least he knows wage and price controls are bad.

Calling Pierre Hitler anything less than the closest thing to a fascist dictator is an atrocity.

May he and his entire pedigree be destroyed.

Thank goodness he wasn't a Nazi, because there's no telling how much damage he could have caused.

Nice reference to T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land," Kathy. :-)

P.S.: How come we can't enter HTML in our comments? Anyone? Hello?

Thanks Garth. I try!

I just go like this for html:

"Great piece at Damian Penny's blog today..."

Then:

http://www.damianpenny.com

I don't think proper hyperlinks work in this system.

**SIGH**

Can't even do that. It appears that TypePad removes all inserted HTML code from comments. I've tried all sorts of permutations -- no luck.

Oh well.
