The Daily Standard?
So I’m flipping through my recently arrived issue of the Western Standard, which is always a pleasure, when the question crossed my mind. Are they now printing daily? The reason I ask is that my last issue arrived yesterday, which I spent yesterday evening reading. But I check the dates and no, the last issue was July 19 and the one that arrived today is August 2. Do other people get delivery this irregularly, or is this a special courtesy I receive thanks to my friends at Canada Post here in Gatineau, Quebec?

You aren't alone, I had the same thing happen here as well.

I had one issue show up two weeks late, and another issue show up on time the very next day. This is here in Alberta. Interestingly, the late issue looks rather well worn and is full of smudges and fingerprints. I'm going to take it to the post office tomorrow and complain about the postman reading my magazine.

I complained about this very thing to the powers that be at the Standard. I was told that the July 19 issue was late because they extended their deadline to allow columnists to get their thoughts in on the election, then bundled it with a reader survey, both of which delayed the distribution of this issue.

It's certainly understandable that the last issue was a little late, but I think my mailman holds back some of my magazines. The ones that are late sometimes arrive looking like they've been well-read, and a good two or three weeks after they should. This has happened with the National Review as well.

My whole subscription went missing a month or so ago. Being more patient than my name might imply, I waited until I had missed three issues before I requested an explanation. I never got one, but I did get my missing issues via Priority Post, along with a pledge that it wouldn't happen again.

I figured the last 2 showed up days apart because we'd just moved. I don't complain about stuff like this because, well, I used to work at a magazine...
And I don't think we should complain about mailmen reading our conservative mags, do you?? :-)

Oh, I'm not really complaining, I kinda hope my conservative magazines are being passed around among the unionized posties. I was just curious if this happened to others, too.

I go a few weeks with no issues, then receive an issue, followed by another one a day or two later. Fredericton NB here.
