When bureaucrats go wild!

One wonders if they aren't just seeking publicity, but two of the most prominent figures in the U.S. adult entertainment industry are telling the press that the porn industry needs a bailout just like the auto makers do.

Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis and “Hustler” magazine publisher Larry Flynt are asking for a $5 billion bail out to fund new disitribution systems for the adult industry, as the free adult materials found on the Internet are cutting into their profit margins.

I'd bet that this is mostly a publicity ploy, but the last quote in the story is surprising, given the adult film industry's campaigns against government regulation and censorship:

Francis said he and Flynt would also be willing to discuss the possibility of the government buying equity stakes in their companies, as was done with financial firms.

"If the government would like to be a partner with Mr. Flynt and I, we’re certainly amenable to it," he said.

I'm sure that the jokes about this would just write themselves. :)

A big thank you to  Big Hollywood, where I saw this. Big Hollywood is a new blog by conservatives in the entertainment industry that I have enjoyed reading so far. You may like it too.
