Liveblogging from Harper's Toronto rally

I'm here at Harper's big Toronto send-off.  This is an all GTA event.  Brampton-Springdale's Parm Gill seems to have the largest group here.  Roughly a thousand people here so far and more streaming in.

I'll be live blogging the speech and any candidates I can get on record.

One thing, Ive asked a couple Toronto campaign managers about the reaction they're getting to Harper's criticism of Dion's three questions gaffe.  I was suspecting that they would have got a lot of angry calls.  So far not a single one.  Here in Liberal Toronto, the media might think it's a game loser - voters on the other hand don't seem to care.

Good lord there are cheerleaders.

More to come.

7:00 - still no sign of Harper.  Also Craig Oliver is Jack Layton short.

7:30 - Harper is on stage.  The crowd is chanting 'leadership'

7:37 - boos for Dion have started.

7:40 - an attack on the US for mis managing the economy.

7:50 - a mention of the Dion gaffe - big laughs. 'Dion couldn't say what he wanted to do for the economy even though he had a long time to think about it'

8:00 - the event has wrapped up.  He closed by framing the ballot question as 'a choice between a plan that already exists and is working vs an opposition plan that changed mid campaign'.

The speech included about 10% more empathy.  2 mentions of his mother.

Great job, but I was hoping you would have tape of Laureen introducing the PM, CTV seems to have forgotten to post it.

Great video! Has Harper always called his audience "friends," or did he pick that up from John McCain's verbal tic?

Ha!
Do all you libertarian bozos have such tin ears politically speaking?

(I'll bet you plan to be somebody in Canada some day and it'll be seen by you as a "tic" that Canadians don't think someone with a name like Kassam isn't trusted as a friend)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qassam_rocket
(and Yes rendering the "K" as a "Q" from the Arabic is merely a tic and has nothing to do with any real difference between the two letters in "our" language)
eg. al-Qaida

Kalim - he's always said that. It's one of two verbal tics he has that drive me nuts.
