(Video) Joe the plumber
Since I was busy driving from Canada to Ohio during the presidential debate, I got to listen to it on three separate NPR radio stations. What struck me was the role that "Joe the plumber" played in the debate. A little bit of scouring the internet delivered the following interesting results.
1. Video of the encounter between Joe and Obama:
2. YouTube video of the encounter:
3. Interview with Joe Wurzelbacher (that's his last name). He's a regular small government anti-tax conservative. Good for him.
So there you are. Now you know a lot more about Joe the plumber from Toledo, Ohio.

...the American Dream. So many have fought and died for it.
Wonder what the Canadian one is...

It is to be able to enjoy the American dream too. Sadly the rich white people of Ontario seek to deny that chance to others. Time to redistribute their wealth.

Sorry, not redistribute Ontario's wealth. I should have said "reclaim."

Zeb is referring to the enormous contribution Alberta makes to equalization payments in Canada relative to any other province. In return for this we are not thanked but rather held in contempt by Ontario and Quebec.

Pike,
It is always time to claim or as you say, reclaim some of the wealth held by others.
You can easily do this by becoming a productive member of society through skills training or entrepreneurial action.
Successful people with money are not a money tree for you or anyone to go and pick at, nor a are they are mine to dig away at. They got their dough because they figured out how to get it.
If you have suffered at the hands of the wealthy to a point where you must now 'reclaim' your wealth, perhaps you should have figured out how to hang on to it in the first place.
"A fool and his money soon part."
Remember that old chestnut there Pike?
Or perhaps you never did have any wealth and you are bitter about that. You blame the people of Ontario for your alleged misfortune or would that be your laziness or worse?
I have noted with some rare exceptions that people who remain poor and bitter all their lives are quite stupid or perhaps disturbed people to begin with. If you fall into that category, you can go and 'claim' some support for the tax-payers of Ontario. I hear they are have the most generous welfare whores in the country.
Or lastly, you can always ... Grow up and get a life for Christ sake. I have been reading your big pout for years now and it's really getting stale.

John V:
Why is it perfectly acceptable, if not morally righteous, for Ontario to seize Alberta's wealth and not the reverse?

And why was it acceptable during the 1960's to force people in eastern Canada to pay more for Alberta oil than the world price Punk?

Northern Ontario and Northern Quebec have many large mines with valuable minerals. The communities receive very few benefits from them and most of the money leaves to large cities, provincial and federal governments. With gold at $800 an ounce, I'd gladly let Alberta keep its oil money if our communities could keep our mineral money. We'd be better off.

Nobody gets to keep any money that they work for.
Our system of extortion makes damned sure of that. Blaming each other for government is childish and it misses the point by a mile.
