Conservative leader David Cameron attacks libertarians at party conference; Alex Singleton pushes back

According to a report by Alex Singleton in the Daily Telegraph, British Conservative leader David Cameron took at shot at libertarians in his speech at the party’s conference this week:

The only part of his speech that made me cringe was when he got confused over terms in political philosophy, attacking what he called the "libertarian" position which he defined as: "we all have the right to do whatever we want, regardless of the effect on others."

Actually, the libertarian position tends to centre around J. S. Mill's harm principle: that people should be free to do as they please so long as they don’t harm others – the exact opposite of what Mr Cameron claimed. The inclusion of the anti-libertarian line was especially unfortunate given that, before becoming leader, Mr Cameron told a House of Commons select committee that he was "an instinctive libertarian".

Singleton was a guest columnist for the Western Standard. Read his column “Fair Trade is a poor answer to global poverty” here.

The one political philosophy these controlling assholes fear most is Libertarianism. They know that the thinking behind it would expose them as unnecesary parasites that they are. So lets face it, they have a beautiful scam going and they'll fight for it, fairly or unfairly. Andd as long as they are in bed with the main stream media they can continue to slander Libertarians and get away with it. Fortunately there is, I beleive, a great awareness sweeping the planet and these pricks are on their way out. But they will get a lot nastier as they go. I look forward to the demise of their monopoly on our freedoms as individual human beings.
