Well done, WS! Congrats.

I've just posted a comment at the Jago Web site and was curious to find that a Web site called Michael Geist is ranked number one.

a) I've never heard of him, but so what? I'm assuming he's a liberal blogger as his posts deal with a number of issues I'm not particularly interested in: Herb Dahliwal, Don Tapscott, etc.

b) The highest number of comments posted was 16, whereas SDA, for instance, gets far more than 16 comments, which would be a low count for a post by Kate.

I'm curious about the criteria.

I too am curious.

As long as the Western Standard is going up, I'm happy. Congratulations to our bloggers. Thanks!

If we start to trend down, I'll start asking questions about methodology. :-)

See you all at the #1 spot.

Michael Geist is a liberal (as far as I can gather), but he blogs primarily about intellectual property. His blog is fantastic, and without him, Canadians would likely be much less informed about the IP goings-on, especially the DMCA style copyright reforms (Bill C-61) that Bev Oda and the Conservatives have been trying to pass. He's included on this list for the first time because Mr. Jago previously excluded him as a "single-issue" political blogger.

Thanks, Kalim, for your explanation. I'm curious about IP and DMCA. Forgive me. I am not computer savvy. I type fast, think fast, spell correctly, and can edit other people's work with some accuracy.

But I don't get along too well with acronyms or abbreviations, so if you could help me out, I'd be very appreciative!

Robert Jago, at his blog, very kindly gave me a link to the criteria:

My only problem was some of the terms used such as
Google Page Rank; Alexa Rank; List Ranking; Alexa toolbar; Digg; Reddit; Google PR 5 and 6 sites.:-)

Great comment by Dataman over at Robert Jago's blog:

I tried to cut and paste it, but it didn't work! The comment is eminently readable and makes a lot of sense, talks about different readership and points out that Michael Geist's commenters seem to comment on his posts on a greater number of other blogs...
