Obama Doesn't Buy His Kids Birthday Presents

Politics aside, there's just something weird about a man (especially a lawyer married to another lawyer) who doesn't buy birthday presents for his children.  Or, for that matter, one who - in this day and age and with kids travelling in the circles that they must - gives his daughters an allowance of $1/week.

There's something oddly unpleasant about the Obamas.  I certainly wouldn't want to be their kid.  And, really, given that the ideology might be described as being paternalistically left-wing (or, more accurately maternalistically left-wing), it's probably worth thinking about what their parenting style says about their governing style.  And I say "their" advisedly - it's become increasingly clear to me that Mama Obama wears the pants in that family, moreso than I ever thought the same of Hillary Clinton.

When she goes around saying things like, "Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone " things that display a very... personally authoritarian vision of political life - things which, in a way, suggest that they imagine a world where everyone will be treated like children, I would say that the question of how they treat their children becomes very, very relevant.

I'm not suggesting, it goes without saying, that the Obamas are abusive, far from it.  I'm suggesting that they appear to be the kind of creepy, lecturing, annoying parents who don't let their children have sugar, who stop their eleven year-old kid from going to see a PG-13 movie,  and so forth.  I, for one, can't stand such people - do you really want to be lectured by them on television for four years?

After reading full article I'm not sure there is anything scary there. Little too conservative but not scary. Obama is already under a very strong microscope and if he were able to walk on water today, tomorrows headlines would read "Obama can't swim". The number one issue he is facing is the economy and what he does with that subject will make or break him.So far he has really done nothing of substance and group hugs around the world does not mean much when the economy at home is getting hammered.

I still like him better than Hillary.

"I'm not suggesting, it goes without saying, that the Obamas are abusive, far from it."

Let me suggest that BO and his Harpie are abusive.

What kind of parents take their children to a racist black power "church" to be indoctrinated by the likes of Rev "GD America" Wright and Nation of Islam Black Muslim Louis Farrakan?

This is psychological, intellectual, and emotional abuse, i.e. indoctrination of children into a hate cult.

Of course you would, Hillary's white.

Posted by: The Stig | 2008-07-26 7:25:20 PM

And Obama's half-white. What's your point.

Only Toronto people, who are presently reviving Apartheid and racial segregation, would discriminate on that basis.

I have three words for you people: We shall overcome.

Zeb Pike -

Doesn't Canada already have apartheid and racial segregation from coast to coast in the form of Indian Reservations?

BO and Hillary have the same principles and direction for the destruction of the US. What's the difference.

Stig: you don't get it. White Ontarians are so racist that non-whites want to segregate themselves as a form of protection. It's the KKK's dream. Well done, white Ontario scum.

You mean the hundreds if not thousands of your brotha's and sista's from the Caribbean that wilfully move to Ontario every year. Gee if things are so bad in Ontario for them why don't they just stay in their tropical paradise's?

The real racist is you Punk.

Like I give a fuck about his birthday presents.

I think you're right to raise this issue, Adam.

The Obamas come across as severe, joyless people who want to whip Americans into shape.

I bet they can hardly wait to "nudge" their lessers, whip in hand, toward their idealized vision of how people should live.

And please no more talk about "libertarian paternalism". These people have influence already. What they really want is power.

AS much as I dislike Obama, does anyone really give a shit how much he gives to his kids in allowance? If he were to give to them lavishly, you would all be calling him down for being over-indulgent and criticize him for that. As far as the movies are concerned, his kid is eleven and the movie is rated PG-13.
For God's sake, if you want to trash this guy there's plenty of material out there in which to do so.
Bringing his kids into this is disgusting.

Adam,
You f*ed up. Drop it!

Who cares whether he gives his kids presents? Who really knows for sure? Perhaps he feels he's the greatest gift of all, whatever.

From his speeches, he's full of platitudes and tired old retreaded rhetoric. There's not much there beyond that. The American people have to make the choice, no point in Canadians worrying over that which we have no control.

We have Dion and his Carbon Tax he's trying to shit us with, calling it a plan to save the Planet. That's our problem and one we can do something about it. We can run the little Weasel out of politics.

Top Ten Things That Creep Me Out About Obama

i bet obama tortures his dog.

Without a doubt, Mr. Yoshida, this is so catty, childish and disrespectful that you should go off into a corner and give yourself a good spanking.

It's one thing to criticize Obama as a politician; it's another to slag his parenting style just because you dislike him so intensely. This tactic reveals an immature mind with a juvenile perspective on life. The next time you want to gossip about somebody, move over to rabble.ca. The Western Standard strives for higher standards than this.

Further, here are some other points you might consider:

1. People who raise their children under strong limits and boundaries aren't "weird." They're parents who undertand the value of instilling discipline in their children . These beliefs are different, not weird.

2. Who anointed you the god of parenting techniques?

Politically, I don't support Obama, but on his parenting style, on these two issues, I back him 100%. He's a fathers who understands that children raised in privileged backgrounds need to have that benefit balanced with some self-sacrifice, so as to negate the "feelings of entitlement" rife with today's younger generation.

Clearly, you have some strong issues with parenting. For your own benefit, you may want to sort these out.

Sincerely,
Jude Pankewitz

"Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. There are no jokes in Islam. There is no humor in Islam. There is no fun in Islam.
There can be no fun and joy in whatever is serious."

Most blacks or should I say "African-Americans" no longer celebrate Christmas but rather some made up thing called Kwanzaa which was intended to "give a Black alternative to the existing holiday" Kwanzaa celebrates "The Seven Principles of Blackness"

Zebulon Punk celebrates Kwanzaa,I wonder if Obama celebrates Christmas or Kwanzaa?

Posted by: The Stig | 2008-07-29 12:15:33 PM

Do I want to be "lectured" by "them" for the next four years? YES! Now shut the f*ck up and mind your own business. PROUD AMERICAN....YES WE DID!
