Family disintegration
The Vancouver Sun editorializes today that we should all just "move with the times" and quit worrying about the family-formation figures released on Wednesday by StatsCan.
But Sun columnist Pete McMartin, who is the closest thing to a populist the paper has on its full-time payroll, advances a distinctly different position on the matter. In his column today, he summarizes what is essentially the paper's official line on the matter, and then declares it is all "a heaping load of crap."
That's telling it like it is, Pete!

Communism (Atheist Totalitarian Socialism) meets homosexual mental illness to produce feminism and finds rich soil in the materialistic female population, to foresake husband-children, close the (national) bank account and eat the seed corn.
Destruction of western civilization by one generation (the baby boomer-bra burners) in a two generation time cycle (their tattooed daughters are bringing down the curtain).
I expect that under Sharia Law the removal of tattoos will be done by dragging your bare ass along the concrete pavement behind a Hum-V with rocket launcher on top and Vote For Hillary bumper stickers where your hands are chained to the trailer hitch.
At the end of that ride, you've "Got religion" again!
Good luck with that, girls.

Staying married now means living with the same woman for up to 60 years and your kids may with you the whole time. Where is the incentive in that?
The point about our governments taxing families out of existence is one of the largest part of the problem. Our standard of living requiring two incomes per household is another.
However, the real source of damage comes directly from the relativist leftist vortex of immorality becopming the norm. You can't be a pop star anymore unless you are properly pierced, big tits, scant attire and a great ass ... musical talent is optional. Male counterparts need to be muscular, tattooed, criminal, vile, over-sexed and preferably black. These are the role models.
Sport heroes are Neanderthals as they always have been, but now they being giving microphones and rock star status.
Our governments and beaurocracy are overtly corrupt and make no apology for it.
It is not hard to see where all the self-loathing comes from. That neurosis is bad enough but the loathing from the Islamic world and others are down right treacherous and may wind up bringing on our demise faster than than our dysfunctions.
In any case, I am glad I am old and may escape the worst of it by dying before the biggest turds hit the fan.
Maybe it's good not to leave kids behind as things are. It's really hard to know what to make of it all at this point.
One warm fuzzy thought to close with. What will happen to the Native Indian Largess once we are no more? I would enjoy seeing the chief without their Caribbean vacations and their traditional 4x4s to cruise to the beer store in.
I expect the head-lop fest in the gay community once sharia is in full force will make many of them wish they have been kinder to the right. Sean Penn, George McLoony, and a host of other pea brained movie stars will not be much help.
Okay that's my rant for Saturday night. I'm going to bed now.

In America we have a long tradition of agricultural product harvest season County Fairs. I want the myriad contests to be expanded to include a contest for "Pissed Off!"
I think I can win the Blue Ribbon everywhere.
That said, the entire problem is the vacant headed notion of materialism versus a spiritual orientation or understanding of human life.
Our governments are NOT powered by our laws (they can screw things up, but they cannot make things good), but rather it is our character, our traditions, our beliefs, our morality which makes us either great or garbage.
The people of the Sharia Laws have produced societies of utter garbage. Everything in those places is HORRIBLE, but God put oil underneath and so He allows it to continue to plague all of humanity, rather than to have dissolved into the scalding desert sands by now.
WE are the screw ups, because we were blessed with the good fortune of Judeo-Christian guiding light, which we allowed the Communist materialism to creep in and overtake us at our weakest link, in the heads of our female population.
Remove the spiritual understanding of humanity and ALL that you have left is the fact that somebody is always bigger, faster, better, PRETTIER, thiner, smarter, than ME, and ALL I've got it ME and the stupid clothes on my back.
If we allow the loss of belief by children (and the elderly) that you are important because God made you with an individual uniquely formed and eternal SOUL, which is the REAL YOU, and it is how you form your Character, and how you discipline the use of your Mind, and how you deal with the talents or the limitations which make up the gift of life which are YOU, then we "create" only a society of short sighted venial materialistic, "I got mine, so screw you" monsters, rather than families, and neighborhoods and towns and cities and nations.
We can each do something about this crisis in our society. Examine and renew your own understanding of the purpose in your life, the eternal purpose. Let whomever it is that is near to you become aware of the fact that you actually have an understanding of eternal and permanent things, by the way in which you conduct yourself in your life. Share your understanding of the spiritual aspect of human reality with somebody who actually does not know this (now that we have screwed it up so badly that there are Atheists abundantly wandering around in our midst).
The short sighted materialistic-atheistic corruption of our western civilization formed on Judeo-Christian values is problem and our individual courage to reserve it in ourselves and those who are closest to us is the key.
On Sunday my rants turn into sermons.
I hope you folks won't snear and throw rocks because my kids need your kids in order to have a safe society in which to live and develop their individual gifts.

Racist feminists have scored a big victory for Marxism by undermining Western values, but their fascist allies in Islam will ensure their victory is short lived, along with them.

Actually the war (no other word for it) against the family has been going on for a long time, although it has become worse during the last couple of generations in Canada, mainly thanks to Trudeau. Once classical liberalism morphed into to-day's liberalism/leftism it went from being for freedom from government tyranny to the complete opposite - statist. Statists rightly perceive a strong traditional family as an enemy and vice versus. For the statists (big brother government) to succeed, the traditional family must be squashed in order to transform society into a bunch of separate individuals - thus easy to conquer.
Yet the traditional family remains the only true corner stone of civilisation and history has shown than when destroyed the civilisation dies.

I quit buying the Vancouver Sun a number of years ago. This is the "newspaper" that described two men - who seem to be able to change the education system of BC - and described one of the men as being the "husband" of the other man!!! Go figure that one out if you can.

The War on the Family as Gairdner wrote, has been going on some time.
As we divorced ourselves from religion, and stopped asking what God intended for our lives when He said be fruitful and multiply we started to see a drift away from family.
Family ceased to be something to protect and no fault divorces started happening where a man could leave without a backward glance (or a woman could), without worry of financial penalty.
We stopped seeing motherhood as a hard working full time profession and women who stayed home were viewed as lazy.
We stopped giving tax breaks to men supporting wives at home.
The government started encouraging women to leave their children in day care (the cost of which, even if subsidized is prohibitive to having more than two children)
--and the tax structure and social structure changed to fit that "new" and "improved" model.
Much as a woman might want to have more than 1 or 2 kids, it is financially difficult.
That decision will impact her retirement income for example if she takes the "mommy track" and stays home to raise more than 2.
As a woman it is scary to depend on a man when one is at one's most vulnerable-- pregnancy. Many men aren't up to the challenge. It is the time when a woman is statistically most likely to be hit and abused.
For women saddled with a man who doesn't abuse them but who prefers video games and grown up expensive toys (4x4/s, boats, RVs etc) the thought of taking on another responsibility is difficult.
For women who have to work because the man can't support them both on one salary, she must hope that her pregnancy goes ok, no complications that land her on her back for 9 months.
And hope that the child isn't born with health problems, or develops autism or some other time and energy draining crisis which will require somebody to stay home.
And hope that all goes well at the day care.
That is a lot of hope.
It is riskier than ever to become a parent, and much of the risk is now landing on the shoulders of the women.
She is the one usually stuck struggling with the finances when a man leaves her for something prettier with less "baggage".
She is the one usually stuck trying to raise the kids in a single parent home, being there 24/7 without help or support.
Like I say, it's a lot to ask of women nowadays.
I got lucky. I have a husband who didn't mind me staying home when I wanted, and allowed me to say when that was appropriate. He was man enough to bring home a paycheque without taking beer money or boat money or toy money out of it first. He has always supported me emotionally, financially and physically.
I would have had more kids if I'd physically been able to. None the less, the two we had we cared for, with me being at home for their preschool years. In Elementary school I worked shifts, then came back home to homeschool them thru high school.
But I'm in the minority.
Homeschool families are a lot like this, but most others aren't.
If we want a return to family structured so that it is a safe baby friendly environment set up to encourage having and rearing healthy children the government is going to have to face some facts.
And so will men and women who are concerned about this situation.

An excellent post CFF. You can add to your list the cost of housing presently. Municipalities use zoning laws to inhibit affordable housing and that adds to the problem of rearing sufficient children.

canadian freedoms fan -
You listed many of the variables, each one of which can-could go the wrong way, but even if everything goes "right" having and holding a family is a major life challenge (and its own reward).
Any of us who have been through or are on the way along this path understand there are ALWAYS difficulties.
The single KEY is an individual understanding and belief that the MARRIAGE is inviolable. That is the ROCK upon which all other risks and difficulties can be endured.
I think that we must recognize that even a difficult marriage or a "bad" marriage was good at one point in time, and the first commitment, to keep the marriage together, determines all other aspects of the family and community.
No matter what.
