12th Imam coming to Canada

Persian language news outlet "Iran Press News" has reported that University of Waterloo has invited the radical Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mesbah, who is known for his radical views, for a lecture on the subject of dialogue between Islam & Christianity from 27th to 30th of May 2007.  Ayatollah Mesbah is one of the supporters of the idealogy of bringing back the 12th Shia Imam thru maximum violence across the globe.

Toronto Star has more on this:

I am not really surprised after all that I have seen here in Canadian universities, especially at University of Waterloo, but if the government of PM Harper issues entry visas for these people, then I will be really surprised. It must not happen!

What specifically do you notice about the University of Waterloo that distinguishes it from other Canadian Universiites?

It is the base of Hezballah supporters. Most Iranian regime funded students study there. Moreover, there was an incident related to Sri Lankan Tamil Tiger terrorist group in that university as well. It's a weird place!

Thanks, Winston.

University of Waterloo, isn't that the university where controversial Prof, Elmasry is on tenure?

It does appear to be a magnet/hotbed for attracting people with what we should consider to be radical views in to-days climate of terrorism and strife tied to those of the Islamic 'sect'.

As per the Canadian sit-on-your-ass-and-let-things-roll attitude the dangerous people have now got citizenship and dangerous people are allowed in to proliferate their cause. That could be to ultimately control the world through terrorism. It's a long process but so were the Crusades.

.. so we have Attaran at Carleton, apparently Elmasrey in Waterloo or at least in TO area, and now this Mesbah is invited in. Surely his (and whoever is in the entourage) visa(s) will not be granted.

In Calgary we have Sheik Imam Alaa El Sayeed who would be the same person who:

.....marched in full Imam regalia (obviously as an invited VIP)in the Aug 12/06 "peace parade" (protest rally actually) in which there was a young gal wrapped up in the flag of Hezbollah a short distance behind him.

..... delivered the closing speech at the same rally which was held at the base of the war memorial in Calgary - while at the same time facing the same flag of Hezbollah then being held high by a about a half dozen young men

..... mingled with these young men at the end of the speeches as well as others who stood proudly to have their pictures taken in front of the Hezbollah flag

..... is the Imam at the Calgary Islamic School - a large charter school in NE Calgary

..... while in TO, claimed that he may have counseled the alleged young Canadian Jihadist (apparently from Calgary who was picked up in Agstn) - as creating difficulties for the 65,000 Muslims in Calgary by his way of thinking/possibly acting. Like he himself has not done this by his participation in the above rally.

It seems the word is out not to be talking about this young guy(apparently by the name of Qureshi). Remaining closed on the issue is going to do nothing but create more dissonance - particularly as things are again going wild in Lebanon.

Yes - a whole lot of people should be a whole lot more concerned. Like who is funding K-12 schools, who is funding university scholarsips/entire departments, who exactly is teaching what, etc.

UW isn't a "weird place", and doesn't take any sides in the middle east issues. After all, it also has an institute of Jewish studies. It promotes dialogue about these issues, something other Univesities should be more courageous in doing.

"It promotes dialogue about these issues"

. . . with folks who chant "Death to the Jews". That dialogue will lead to nowhere. Chamberlain also pursued dialogue. That got us WW II.

Any talk about this Imam being the guy to take over the Caliphate?

Abolished after WWI, there is some appetite among the ‘kill everybody who does not agree with us' crowd to reinstate the Caliph, who would the the ultimate ruler.

Kinda like a Pope, except the Caliph would be expected to kill a few rivals along the way. You know, those leaders of the world who did not agree with him.

I'm sure a few of our Muslim friends monitoring this site would know all about the concept. Go ahead, What do you say?

The story from the Iran Press News is intriguing, but false. The paper has been asked to correct the error.
A conference on "Spirituality" is scheduled between several Muslim and Christian scholars at Conrad Grebel University College in Waterloo. Ayatollah Mespah was never part of the program, has not applied for a visa to travel to Canada, and is not attending the conference.
Conference organizers are spending a lot of time and energy trying to correct the misinformation.

No world condemnation here, like there would be if Israel was conducting this military campaign. But that's because there are no JEEEEEEEEWS involved here, don't you know.

Where's the UN???

For those who still think mosques are "holy" sites and not armories, here's another use for a mosque:

"Police freed from Pakistan mosque"

Hardline Islamist clerics at a mosque in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, have freed two police officers they had held hostage for almost a week.

The policemen were part of a group of four officers kidnapped at Islamabad’s Red Mosque last Friday in retaliation for the arrest of 11 seminary students.

Two officers were freed a day later amid a tense stand-off with police.

When was the last time anybody left a church or synagogue and were fired up by a sermon to kill somebody who did not believe the same way they did?

Curiously, it seems to happen in quite a few mosques every Friday.

I guess that's what those promoting moral equivalence cannot understand. Their blindness to the facts has got to the point where it's not surprising any more, just something to be expected.

The side effects of looking for an alternate universe, I'd suppose.

I wonder if this Imam will teach a class while at Waterloo.

I suggest: Martyrdom Operations 101, Islamic-Dhimmi Relations 632-Present, etc.

I hope that at least one of his students puts his 'teachings' into practice somewhere in Toronto.

obc: I heard that they usually deport you, but since it's Saudi, they'll torture you first.

Some day, Mecca could be an international tourist destination, like Disneyland.

I am truly discusted with Waterloo University. I can not believe that they are inviting these representatives of Mespah Yazdi here, who happens to be Ahmadinejad's spiritual advisor. Most of the barbaric laws in Iran. Instead of inviting students who are fighting for human rights in Iran, they invite the the people who support the beating, torturing, and at some instances killing these students. What is the world coming too?

Has anyone else notice that the mass killings in Lebanon are not called "massacres" by the Leftoid Media? I guess Arabs killing other Arabs is no big deal since it does not involve any JEEEEEEEWS!

But when the Israelis launch missiles into Gaza in response to the Kassam rockets hurled at pre-1967 Israeli cities, well! That must be condemned because - you guessed it - those JEEEEEEWS are at it again.
