No, no. we're laughing with you...
We all recall Paul Martin's whopper at the May 17 press conference immediately following Stronach's defection when he said, 'The significance of her decision is not that it necessarily alters the outcome of Thursday's vote," which caused the press gallery to spontaneously laugh in his face. In this Globe and Mail article "Martin questions Harper's ability to be PM" you don't exactly hear the press laugh, but by the way it's written at the end you know there were a few snickers. Here's how it finishes (bolding mine):
The morning rally was the first the Liberals have staged in British Columbia since the campaign began. Although the supporters managed to create a cacophony of sound with the balloons distributed by the party for that purpose, the gathering was small by election campaign standards--the 19 candidates in attendance made up a substantial proportion of the crowd.
But that didn't stop Mr. Martin from seeing the event in a positive light.
"What a great way to start off a wonderful British Columbia morning," he said after being ushered into the room to the music of U2, whose lead singer Bono recently said he was disappointed with Mr. Martin for failing to meet pledges to help the world's poor.
"What a tremendous crowd, what a great thing this is."
[Added: Angry in the Great White North has a different take on this.]

"What a tremendous crowd" indeed! What a sad pancake trajectory. What a grinding rim, what straining horses, what an ontologically sad, arms-waving version of Jingle Bells. Obligato rediscovers itself! Huzzah!
Or, as they say in political circles, "whoops..."
